I grew up around there, which is why I live in North Carolina now.

Yep, still here.  3 hours southeast of me is the Gulf Stream so they've got roses popping through sidewalk cracks.

Yup, wife and I go visit friends every Summer. 60 degree mornings, 70 degree afternoons, it's pretty rad. We make it a point to leave before Sept

In RI we'll probably get a messy, sloppy mix of snow and rain that'll clog up the snow blower. (Last year we didn't get any snow at all).

I have really enjoyed Boston and Providence when I've been to each.
I want to go back to the region on vacation at some point. But for some reason the thing I first think about was how the guy in the burrito shop warned me that the sauce was extremely spicy and it was... not. I have had jarred marinara that I fed to a 9 month old that was far spicier.

As for why I was having a burrito in New England? Late night and it was the only thing open.

They're saying about 9" here in SW CT, what's going to make it fun is the 2.7" of rain in the forecast for Tuesday...

^^^ This^^^   We got close to 5" here in the wind / rain storm a few weeks ago and lost power while we were all at work.  I did not have a battery backup for my sump pump at the time, I do now.  Not that my sump pump should be running at all this time of year but it's running about once every 10 minutes at the moment.

We'll see what tomorrow brings but rain on top of 6+ inches of snow is going to be a drag.

They're still calling for 8" here in NE CT.. got the plow on the truck, and everything worked the first time!

Which means we probably will get rain...  :p

A couple miles down the road, I was hoping that mounting the snowblower on my tractor in November again would seal the deal for another snowless winter. My kids are rooting for snow so bad.

Bruh... you went to the wrong burrito joint! If ever in Southeastern MA, go to No Problemo in New Bedford. No one anywhere in the universe tops them for me. Bring cash, and get some of the green and red sauces and you'll be happy.

Looking forward to the snow, just fired up the snowblower around 8:30 tonight for the first time of the year. (yeah, kinda late).

Tomorrow morning I'll be going from Worcester area to a hockey game in Framingham for 9am, out to Gardner for a 4pm practice, then hit Mt Wachusett to snowboard until they close at 9:30 pm.

I'm old enough to have spent a good portion of my driving years in central and western Mass driving 2wd pickups and rwd malaise era cars when there was no work from home and school didn't cancel unless there was there was more than 6-8" on the ground, so awd and modern snow tires make this just another day in NE.

Having spent all of 2023 in a hotel room in Portsmouth, I am glad to have dodged the snow bullet (I don't remember getting any significant snow last year). Now home in Philly, we didn't get any snow beyond an early dusting before the rain. I'm not sad, although mtn biking is better in snow than in mud.

Yeah. Midwest is scheduled to be below zero next week. Sometimes i think I should have moved to rhode island when it was offered. At least I have never seen regular days below zero in RI.

I am in lovely 80 degrees right now. My body will hate me when I land at home a week from now.

It's why I moved down south. Got tired of looking at plowed roads with snow banks taller than me.

I sometimes do miss Portsmouth and Boston, though. Sometimes.

Wachusett Mountain - Haven't heard that name in a while. Back in college (WPI), I skied there multiple evenings a week. If I recall correctly they had a dirt cheap student, evening only, weeknight only ski pass. As poor as I was during college, it must have been cheap. Great fun to toss the skis on top of the VW Fox and hit the slopes for a couple of hours, mostly by yourself. That little car was great in the snow.

I don't get what everyone is complaining about. New England is beautiful in the summer and fall. In the winter, don't you all come to Florida? It sure seems like everybody does.

Turned wet. Got out early to use the snow thrower before it was too wet. Then took the kei truck for a cruise around the block.

Wish I had the gopro equipped.

I just took my first trip in the Golf R with traction control off and really real snow tires. Brapping ensued. Pulled into the parking lot while the plow guy was at it and did awd donuts until he cleared the first spot then pirouetted into the spot so he could clear the rest of the lot. His smile was worth every bit of the hoon.

No cars, no light poles, no problems.
