Parted this out this weekend. If you can even tell what kind of car it is I'll be mildly impressed.

We have a winner.

Interestingly, the side view mirror has a Chrysler Pentastar on it, and appears to be from the same vintage of car. Even more interestingly, there's only one set of mounting holes drilled in the door. Which means that either

a) Volvo somehow got their hands on a batch of Mopar side view mirrors and used them on their cars, or

b) Somewhere along the car's life (which effectively ended in 1977, the year of the last registration on the VA license plate) someone lost or broke the old mirror, and the Mopar mirror was on hand and just happened to have the same bolt pattern.

Either way, the car sat in a barn for about 30 years, and this was what was left. Sad. When going through it I even found an old Volvo patch panel for the rockers. At some point someone had visions of repairing the car. That must have been long ago. The patch panel was rusty, and dented.

I did save the mirror; it was in pretty decent shape. No idea what specific Chrysler product it went to, though.

I'd love to be able to sell them off but keeping the car rollable is also important. The only things I can think are swap someones wheels with crap tires for mine or hope a scrapper can take a non rolling hulk once I'm done.

This. My neighbor scrapped his Roadmaster wagon by cutting it into bite sized pieces and hauling it away in/on his corolla.

Yay! One internet point for me!

The mirror looks like an early '60's Mopar A-body (Valiant/Lancer/Barracuda/'63-up Dart) dual post mirror. Up until the mid to late '60's outside rear view mirrors were optional. Wasn't until the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966 that a driver's side mirror was required. I suspect the Volvo was born without one and gained a junkyard piece somewhere in its lifetime.
