Ever have a bad day?

So, I think today is the worst lucky day I've ever had in my life. I mowed over my phone and it still works, and I flipped a commercial ZTR down a 5 foot wall, with me still on it. That was fun. Peppy told me to do a barrel roll, so I did. Kinda.

No pics of the carnage of the lawn mower crash (really, not bad, commercial mowers are meant to take serious abuse) because seriously not 15 minutes earlier, I had dropped the phone out of my pocket and ran over it with the lawn mower. Didn't notice it until the next pass.

So, even though I mowed over my phone, less than $30 will fix it up right and give me a custom paint scheme while I'm at it. No major injuries on the lawn mower, just a bit sore. I'm keeping an eye on it and have a followup appointment in a week. I should be fine, I've survived worse on just Advil.

Oh, that's a GS3, BTW. I love it, or I wouldn't be rebuilding it.

Worst, no. It's the worst day I'd seriously consider myself lucky. I could have been injured pretty badly, or worse, my phone could be completely dead :p

Oh yes, more than one. I try to block those from my memory.

On a scale from 1-10, 10 being the worst, I'd give yours about a 7. To get up to 10 you would have to still be in the hospital having a limb or two reattached.

Glad it was a good, bad day.

Today was the first day in 11 (calendar) days that we actually did “work" at my job.

On the 16th, I called 911, because a blower motor allegedly spit sparks and caught fire. I didn't have the balls to try to grab a fire extinguisher and put it out.

We're running three (of eleven) machines off a big ass generator, with temporary wiring.

You're lucky only your phone is broke.

I have bad days and I have worse days. That said, I think my worse days are only as bad as your bad days.

I've had good days that were still worse than your bad days.

That isn't really what I'd consider a bad day... not even any stitches!

I did laugh a little picturing you driving a big mower off a 5' wall. How bad of a hangover do you have to have to do that? I would have assumed you were thumbing through the "Good God Almighty" thread on your giant phone and got distracted but... this was after you ran over your giant phone with the lawn mower.

Glad you didn't mow yourself in the process. Next time, put the phone somewhere safe in camcorder mode so we can see the look on your face when you go over the edge .

Not horrible, but could have ended worse.

Shooting high zone stuff out in the desert with the Marines, got in late, jumped out of bed at 4:30 to hit a plane home. Wore the same jeans and boots I wore in the field.

I have a Get Out of Jail Free Card, but it still took enough time that I almost missed all the connecting flights.

I wouldn't say yesterday was the worst day of my life, but it was damn annoying... Tues night I get home and put the TDi on the lift to investigate a front end noise. Discover a very toasted LF wheel bearing. Crap. Oh well... I got the BMW back together, so I can drive that for a couple of days. The next morning, I leave for work and 10 miles into the drive, the engine note changes and the MPG guage for from its normal 20-25 to around 15. Crap. Runs really rough too. Crap. About 3/4 of the way here, the low- coolant light comes on. Crap. Get here and poke around a bit. Nothing obvious until I check the oil. The oil was just changed and has less than 50 miles on it, so it should look new. Does not look new. Looks like chocolate milk. Crap. I still have to limp it home and do a compression test, but I suspect a head gasket.

And you folks think I'm exaggerating when I say it feels like every time I drive this car it breaks.

Bad days ? Too many to count.

My day was worse, luckily I'm very lucky and nothing has happened over the last year I've been without something, and now I have to pay double what I would before.

Lesson learned: Don't rely on businesses to track you down when they are about to cancel something of yours.

A meth head shows up at our ER - thinks he's having an appendicitis. Turns out he's got necrotizing fascitis (flesh eating disease). Now he has a giant open wound and will be shuttling between the ICU and OR for about the next month (if he lives that long). His yesterday sucked worse than any day of my life.

There was a kid I'd graduated high school with. He was always a nice guy, kinda out there, never into drugs that I knew of, but you just had no idea where he was going to end up. I saw him at a bar in either Grayslake or Round Lake in December. Clearly had gotten into Meth. I looked at him and thought "he's going to be dead in a year".

Scary stuff.

Unfortunitly in my experiance meth heads live longer then a year. Would be nice to have a self solving drug problem.

I ordered the parts before I made this post. Kinda put too much work into the OP. Going red front glass, white bezel, black chassis, red and white aluminum case back. Might as well jazz it up a bit since I have to rebuild it anyway.

So, the hotel owner doesn't want me to do the grass at the hotel anymore, he's just going to outsource it. I told him that's a good thing for him, cause the next time a mower flies off, it's not on his worker's comp. He thought that was funny, because I'm not the first person to run that mower off of that wall. Probably needs a rail there, but it would take a fairly serious rail to stop something as heavy as that mower.

What I have put together from my memory of the event is that I was in the middle of a fast turn on the mower, slowed down and killed the blades, and the power surge put me close enough to the wall that I couldn't recover it. The front wheel, being just a really big caster, rolled right off, the left rear tire slid off, then down it went. No huge roll bar, but the one that was just over the mid-back seat kept the mower from completely squashing me.

I have to diag high fuel consumption and oil dilution in a 6.4 Powerstroke.
