..only to discover that it's probably one of the most thematically intense songs that you've ever heard?

that happened to me with the song "Hush" by Hell Yeah:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6ZScBMwmmQ&feature=youtu.be

heard it on the radio at work a few times a night for the last couple of weeks, but couldn't really listen to it well enough to see what it was about.. i just knew that it had a cool groove and i wanted to see what Vinnie and the boys had come up with...

then i heard this:

Hell's where I was born!

Hell's where I was raised,

This hell is where I'm from and this hell is where I'll stay.

The hush is all I need to hush the misery;

The hush that belongs to me, like the hush inside a dream

Just be still and pray

And let the noise just fade away.

damn.. just, damn..

to quote Skwysgaar Skysgelf: That's ams metals!!

FWIW, if you've a smart phone, the app Shazam is a dandy tool for this. Just let the phone hear the song and the app will find it and show you the lyrics, as well other things about the artist and album.

Meh, I give it 1 horn up out of 4. I expected better from a group with guys from Mudvayne and Pantera in it.

tough crowd...

huh.. so no one likes music that actually talks about things and stuff in a butally honest and straightforward manner? a graphic description of what goes on in the mind of someone growing up in an abusive house- with a video that does a damn good job of showing what goes on- isn't what constitutes a good song any more?

yes, Vinnie was playing flaming drumsticks and the bass player had dreadlocks so you know it's a metal song..
