Ever noticed that every 350 swapped into any vehicle is always a corvette 350? Never a late 70s 140hp wonder. Just how many corvette 350s are out there?

I just found that funny.

Chevy did not designate a 350 for the Corvette. Therefore every 350 engine for those years was in fact a 'corvette' 350 sadly it was also a truck 350 and a F&G body 350. So at least they weren't lying. If it's a Corvette with stock anything on the engine and it's a sbc do everything you can to not expect much and you shouldn't be surprised.

If I had a nickel for every "BOSS 302" engine....

Some Corvettes had 140hp wonders, too.

Pretty much any smallblock Chevy V8 swapped into another car from 1955 on gets called a Corvette, I think.

And some fords, I think I even heard a guy try it with an I-5 from an Audi. Just SAYING corvette makes it faster. It's like the GRM sticker and the FM shaved raccoon.

Lowest Hp Vette engine was the L48 of 1975 (not including the Blue Flame 6) with 165 at the rear wheels. Ask the man who owns one.

Mine is now at 185 at the rear wheels but I haven't touched the heads or cam. Car does not breath over 4000 rpm. Small intake valves, low compression, emissions controls (first year with catalytic converter) were the main culprits.

And many Vette small blocks would be 4 bolt mains so there is that distinction.

Just like every VW bus 2.0 is a "Porsche" engine.

I'll admit to calling the L33 in my Miata a "corvette" engine when talking to non-gear heads. It's simple, easy to understand and close enough for government work.

Corvettes had the L82 as the top dog option in the 70's...

they were built with slightly less bad parts (4 bolt blocks, flat top pistons) and a slightly less pitiful cam than a "regular" 350 from that time. i believe they used that cam in the L69 305 that was put in F and B bodies in the 80's, which made it slightly less bad than a "regular" 305...
