If this is a stupid thread idea, let it die out. But I think either in our commutes to/from work or in our daily lives in general, there's some view or something small that makes your day a little brighter. I tried to get a good picture to share mine, but it didn't turn out very well.
This is one of the stairwells in the library at my college - it doesn't show in the picture, but all the subway tiles are a kind of teal/aquamarine color that I really like for no good reason.
What's yours? (pics if you got 'em)
Seeing all the late blooming wildflowers on the way to work.
This always works for me.

The gentle but firm push on my back as the boost builds.
Cresting the pass on US50 and catching the first glimpse of Lake Tahoe. You'd think that it would get old after five years, but it doesn't.
I loved my last commute. I would pass through downtown LA at 3:30, when the city was dead asleep, through skid row, and into the the food distribution district, when the LA produce market was already on its lunch break.
I get to commute all over the state. Any time I can get off the major roads and out into the country is a good day. I've also been know to throw the bike in the back of the van and make a stop or two on the way home.
Taking the long way home is a regular occurrence.
No pictures, but on 73 on the way to one of my sites, there's a spot where you can see over the fields, and through the trees for miles. With the hills and sun rise, it always makes me happy. When I get home and my six year old daughter runs out the back door screaming daddy and damn near tackles me while giving me a hug.

It used to be passing the Lotus dealer in Hopewell, NJ and gazing at whatever interesting cars they had for sale in the lot. Unfortunately, it closed and has been replaced by a Euro car dealer that now has a collection of German 4-door & SUV malaise that I don't think has changed in the 6 months they've been open...
Otherwise, there's nothing particularly noteworthy about my commute, but it's generally mundane, if long.
The smell of beer brewing as I pass the sweetwater brewery on i85 on thee way home. I don't get it everyday. But when it happens I can't help but smile.

Improved road signage makes me happy.
"Improved" HyVee drives me into a fit of rage.
My commute is short but for a moment it takes me through a couple of classic bluegrass region farms. Seeing horses grazing while the fog still lays in the low lying spots is a sight I grew up with and people come from other countries to experience.
Diving onto the university campus during warm weather and seeing the umm.... "wildlife" is pretty good too.

I'd post a picture in reference, but the GRM overlords would deem me misogynistic and a womanizer and I'd be banned from the forums.
My commute sucks but, walking out my door and choosing which V8 powered RWD car to drive to work; pushrods:
or OHC:
(not mine, but it's pretty much identical to it)
... is pretty cool.
My happy place is within walking distance from my parents house. And in a few weeks it will start to look like this. State parks are great.
