Cape Horn, at the tip of South America, to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska in 1978-1979.

6 stock Jeeps, 120 days and 21,000 miles. This looks like fun to me.

I really want to take a trip like that.

Today in Yorktown Heights I saw two Land Rovers, one a four door defender, the other an old one with the lights in the center of the grill. Both with European tags and loaded down with off road gear. I couldn't get close enough to see what country the tags were from.

I think it's way easier in a group than solo or just a single vehicle, and it's proof that you dont need a monster truck to travel. That was in the late 70's, so I imagine roads have improved since then.

Ideally there are a few friends we would do it with. I don' want to do anything too crazy but I think at this point a lot of the world is drivable. I have a book on Airstream trailers and in the late 50s and 60s they would organize trips where owners groups would caravan across various African and Middle Eastern countries. It can't be that much harder to do now.

Great video. I bet the soft doors were most quickly regretted though, first in the jungle and then in the arctic.
