After asking a few gas stations, they said its one of two things: the coupler is fine and it twists back together or the coupler is broken and the hose is stretched. One costs nothing. The other costs $300-500.
Now that I think about it, I change my plea: I consider myself lucky and no longer a victim. Lucky that he let me go. Its possible that the hose just reconnected, but its possible that I might be in deeper that $125.
Maybe it IS Karma. I've done quite a bit for strangers, not for reward, but because its the right thing to do. Maybe Karma is paying me back? I'll chalk it up to experience.
