Science Technology Engineering and Math. I posted a video a while back where a local news reporter took a spin in a sailplane. One of our students has won a national competition for STEM. Alex started with the club in the spring, soloed in the fall and won a trip to a simulator.
My freshman in high school just emailed me sell her prints she drew on some CAD program to build a box.
I was impressed.
STEM is awesome. I wish the program styles where around when I was in school.
My 3 oldest kids are heavily involved with Vex Robotics Competitions. It's amazing the talent that can be unleashed from young imaginative minds.

There's a STEM expo that my professional group volunteers our time. I've never done it before, and only became aware of it a couple years ago, but I signed up for a 3 hour stint on a Saturday morning in couple weeks. I'm excited. (We make ice cream with single serving creamer cups by shaking them in a baggy with salt and ice.)

I often thought that if I went back to school for a Masters I'd like to go for STEM education. I wish I would've stuck with my interests from high-school into college, but I always associated technology and trades as something low paying (unless math heavy engineering or programming) that required Vo-Tech or 2-year school, and that if you wanted a good job you went to a 4-year school. I'd love to help kids understand they can still build, design, program, fabricate without an engineering degree.

SWMBO's 13yr old daughter made it into the local STEM school this year, and freaking loves it. If this were an option in the early 80s I would have also.
