What is everyone's favorite car movie? I have a hard time deciding between Vanishing Point and LeMans.

Hands down, the best car movie ever made is Grand Prix.

Le Mans sucks pretty hard as a movie. As 1971 prototype porn, it's great, though.

Two Lane sucks.

Vanishing Point sucks.

Le Mans for me. Sure, it lacks a plot, but I think that's what makes it the ultimate 'car' movie, and quite avant garde in a way. Two hours of quality racing put to film, and it totally gets away with it.

Also, I enjoyed Vanishing Point.

Le Mans is a racing movie, not a car movie. The best car movie is Better Off Dead. He has a gorgeous black 69 Camaro in the driveway, his cute girl neighbor Grassroots it back to life, he wins a drag race against his nemesis and gets the girl. How is that not awesome?

I also liked Catch Me If You Can, although it has been a LONG time since I saw it....it may be that I, in my youthful exuberance, didn't recognize a bad film.

Gone in 60 Seconds, the first one. Also Used Cars was pretty funny at times. Just saw Christine the other day, forgot how good it was, I'll have to re-read the book.
