So many great cars have been mentioned. Spooky thing is how many of them I would choose over many of the "modern" cars that are available.

I see those and I think of these They look to me like they were designed by a group of 10 year old boys.

Exactly. That's probably why pictures of both cars were on my wall then. 8)

Oh (insert deity of choice here) this is a hard one.

Race cars. 1988 was the zenith of race car design to me. MP4/4 XJR-9 Le Mans winner 962 Leyton House March F1 881, one of the prettiest F1 cars and colors ever Lotus 100T, again 1988 Williams FW11b, back to 87 for this, I never like the 88 FW12 car. 1989 Ferrari 640, beats even the Layton House March.

Rally cars Lancia 037, this is the Stradale road version though RS200 Sport Quattro There’s also the 6R4, Delta S4, 205 T16 Evo 2 etc etc, but they never had the visiual appeal of these.

Road cars 288 GTO one of the few Ferrari’s I like 951/952 1980 Lotus Esprit Essex Turbo E30 M3 here in BTCC form Sierra Cosworth, specifically the RS500 Series 1 Escort RS Turbo Capri 2.8injection, specifically the 280 Brooklands edition Peugeot 205GTI 1.9 (see the wheels Vs the 1.6l) Scirocco 16V Series 1 Scirocco Storm Saab 900 Turbo Reliant Scimitar SS1 (it was the 80’s OK?)

Loads more, it was a great time to be coming of age.

It also reminds me that I MUST own a Pantera before I die, if even only for a little while.

I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me, but it was the first car I fell in love with. All the other kids wanted the Countach. I loved the Testarossa. I still think it's gorgeous, even if a bit dated in design.

10-years ago when I worked at Autozone part-time, I had a customer in his mid-30's come in asking to rummage around the back aisles looking for a ball joint. I asked if it was something I could look up for him & he said "no" and explained it was for a Maserati Merrak. We got to talking, and he also had a Testarossa - said it was only $30k or so, and that if you're willing to dig in and get your hands dirty, that ownership wasn't too bad.

I have always been into cars and I can specifically recall certain cars from my childhood and how they looked at the time and in some cases the first time I saw one in person. I would have to say that my favorite is still the GNX, especially for an 80's American car. For Japanese I would have to say the Corolla GTS and for European I would say the Porsche 959. So how about you guys any favorites from back then?

When I saw the topic the GNX is what I thought of. I remember trying my best to convince my mother to buy an 87 Grand National, but she couldn't be convinced. I had to make due with the Monogram 1:24 replica of the GN and the GNX. I wish I would have been smart enough to appreciate the Corolla GTS when it was new, however at the time I lusted for the Dodge Conquest Tsi and the Lincoln Mark VII LSC, clearly proving that there should have been some kind of intervention before I was old enough to buy my own car.
