So into the second episode, it is progressing slow, just like the Walking Dead, but I bet it is going to hit it's stride soon and be exciting.

It's better than True Detective 2
It is a bit slow, but I have to wonder if that is just the audience getting used to the genre? I have to say the main characters went from "normal" people to Zombie killers without any hesitation or remorse. I think it might have been better to have a main character get killed immediately to really drive home the danger to the rest.
For a while everything was vampires, then werewolves were hot for a while, now it's zombies. I wonder what the next fad will be, Mummies or Frankensteins?
I like the premise. On the other one the series started with the zombie apocalypse well underway. I like the idea of seeing it go from normal life to full E36 M3storm. Movies dont have time to get that in depth with the transition period, so I will continue watching.
should pick up soon. they mentioned on The Talking Dead that this first season is 6 episodes.

Having a main character need to attempt to kill one of thier friends 3 times in a row not good enough for you?

Frankenstein. Dr. Frankenstein was into recycling before it was cool. He was the original green hipster. Totally relevant today.

I doubt it picks up until episode 5. They already said they were making this a "slow burn" format for pace. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they started the chaos until 6 and make it a cliffhanger until season 2 starts in 2016.
I actually like the speed of the show. If you think about it, in terms of time portrayed, it's been about 48-72 hours. The big selling point of the show was to show how it all began and depict the unraveling of society and infrastructure. If they speed it all up, it's just another Walking Dead but in LA. I actually like the sense of urgency and near-panic that it sends to the viewers. The "something isn't right" sense. Being in NYC it does make you think, if things went south quick, how the hell would we get away from this place.

It wouldn't matter. Nobody on the show answers questions either. Or explains themselves. Or does what the berkeley they are told to do. I'm trying hard to like the show but the interactions have ranged from frustrating to infuriating so far.
I think everyone in the core group dies by the end of episode 6 and season 2 picks up in a different location with a different group at the same beginning timeline.
Really? I can get into that sort of plot for each season, as long as they keep the ideas fresh. I mean how many ways can they show first reactions to the dead coming back for dinner
The 2nd episode picked up the action a bit, which is a good thing. And I like that some people are getting a clue as to what's going on, like that kid Tobias and the cop filling his trunk with water bottles at the gas station. But there's so many people walking around that have no clue... I'd hope people in real life would react differently if something like this happened.
I never realized how easy it was for this to spread. With all the looting and violence, everyone that dies becomes an insta-zombie, thus flooding the cities with them. Every hospital becomes a zombie breeding factory. Basically, every "safe zone" becomes the opposite. It's gonna get ugly.
and of course major highways becoming gridlock and with multiple pileups leading to them becoming arteries for it to spread.
Cities would become hellholes in a serious hurry in a "zombie" outbreak. Or during a major civil disturbance. Or pandemic flu. Or major sporting event.
Pretty much any event is made worse by concentrating humanity.
