Good color choice, y0.
That stance makes 'em dance
I had my first "hmmm" moment with the Grand Sport. While painting individual parts for the front suspension, it dawned on me that everything aside from one or two parts that get added late are all the same semi-gloss black. If I was thinking ahead of time before starting, I think it would have made a lot more sense to assemble all that stuff unpainted, and then go in with the brush and make it all the same color. I don't know if that would make things easier in the long haul but it's something I'm going to have to consider for future builds if the colors involved work out the same way.
I couldn't do it with the rear end, though, since a couple parts get painted a couple different colors (spring being a different color than the rear end housing it's mounted to, etc).
Tomorrow should be a big paint day.

Funny thing, I have one of the GS kits, and gave serious thought to sending it to Saron, but I know he is a Ford guy, so I sent him a Mercedes.....
Mercury has color and a few coats of clear, but not polished out yet. The paint is base coat/clear coat 1990 FoMoCo "Electric Currant Pearl Metallic" which does not in fact contain any pearl, just mica and metal dust. In the hind sight department, I think I should have shaved of the Mercury letters on the bonnet, but it is too late now.
Just saw that they rereleased the Chevy ramp truck from the 70's; I've almost pulled the trigger so many times on an original. I love watching you guys work on these, keep up the good work!

Mobius is also releasing a ramp truck version of their 60s F-350
Dude. That's awesome, the dual axle Chevy casting is weird but it's the only one that I could ever find.
Got paint on the Grand Sport. It came out decent. I painted myself into a corner, both literally and figuratively, by (AGAIN) not putting enough paint on the lower body. I had half a thought to building the car just white since two-toning is more work and we are on a deadline, but with primer showing at the bottom of the doors, two-tone isn't just the right idea, it's necessary. So I have to find the rightish blue and start masking.
The instructions said the interior is dark blue, which is an amusing coincidence since I just picked up a can of dark blue that I was going to use on the Pinto's interior. Satin clear left it a little shinier than I'd like so I'll have to pick up some matte clear in my travels next week.
Everything else is progressing slowly. I intended to do something on the kit every day, even if it was just glue one thing here or paint something there. But, as the calendar flips to the 13th, the current pace meant things might get done sometime in May. So I spent quite a bit of time tonight (last night) getting paint on darn near everything that hasn't gotten it yet, so I can concentrate on assembly. I have to tell myself not to rush, because that's when I get sloppy, so I need to find the happy pace where things get done neatly but not slowly. I think we'll get there.
The GT6 is mostly painted. I still have to final sand the primer for the body then spray it. All the other parts are done and the engine is mostly together. I want to paint the seats tan but have no matching color in stock. My local hobby shop has banker's hours (I think 'hobby shop' means the business itself is a hobby) so if I can't get there stuff will just wind up black, which is boring.
We just brought home a 'new' dog yesterday and it's already a sh*tshow here so that may slow progress.
I am so behind... lost a week to my mother visiting from Florida, then almost a week of being sick. I need to get going!
Big block, 4 speed, dual 4 barrels
Rear suspension ride height with all parts fitted. Debating on trying for even lower?
Got an hour and change in tonight. Rear suspension is almost done (dreading dealing with the whisper-thin rear sway bar); front suspension is relatively simpler so that should go together fairly quickly. Carburetors mounted (dreadign dealing with the whisper-thin fuel rail thing). Should get started on the interior soon.
At some point I'll be cracking open the photo-etched stuff to take a whack at the hood louvers. The instructions suggest "white glue": is that regular ol Elmers? Or is there something more specialized that'll work better?
In reply to Claff :
They are refering to Elmer. I use Micro Crysal Clear, but any clear parts glue works. Many times I use CA if there is no chance of damaging the finish or showing a blob.
I hit it with the lowering stick more. There's literally a hole in the chassis to clear the 3rd member now.
Man, y'all may be rubbing off on me. Just picked up another kit. I can't have one IRL right now but I can do it in 1:25.
I have an engine that is essentially complete. I saw on a model review site that one builder added some gold/red/blue dit-dots to the carbs to give some detail and add some color under the hood, and I'll probably do that too. There's just so much aluminum and black in this car, not much variety in colors but I suppose that's true of the real thing.
The rear suspension is all there, and I started on the front. The rear is going to need a bunch of touch-up paint but at least nothing is spring-loaded. The instructions are hinting that the front sway bar is going to be a bit of a PITA to put in so that'll be tomorrow's problem.
With any luck, I'll find some appropriate paint for the body two-tone (Pontiac Engine Blue doesn't seem to be available by name locally); I think the local Pep Boys has a decent selection of OEMish paint colors in spray bombs. Other than that, I'd like to get the interior done soon so I only have to think about the body as we get close to deadline.

That's a beautiful kit. A light metallic blue would look great, if I ever get to one that's the color I'd pick like the John Mecom car.
