Finally hit pay dirt today. I went to two more music shops today and one had some Vintage Modifieds and a J Mascis Jazzmaster. I'm going with the Mascis. Pickups are better. Better frets. Better bridge. Looks to be a good value.

That was one of the first research videos I watched once the JM bug bit. The Mascis Signature only comes in that Vintage White. The first one in the video is a vintage '65 and the second one is the Signature. He talks about what they did to recreate the original. Something they changed on the Signature is the tailpiece is closer to the bridge.

Until you find your dream-guitar(or bass, in my case). Now the only other one I'd consider is a match to this one(with a few slight differences), but I won't be paying 2.5x challenge-cars for a bass anytime soon... So I bought a new amp instead!

Told ya you'd want the Mascis.
And now I have one... Very nice neck and has the Fender sound I was looking for. I've replaced the tremolo with the Fender locking one and the pickguard, but other than that, it's perfect.
