Hey that anchorman's Canadian. Back in the 80s, he was a video host known as "J.D." with long hair and leather pants. I bartended at his anniversary party. :-)

Is there really a problem with Ferraris at speed? Wasn't Fabio driving one that "lurched and turned into a wall"?

I'm starting to wonder what percentage of ferraries are in major wrecks... 40%? more?

They do take a bit of skill to hustle and they don't exactly market to the track day crowd as much as the "Just got a contract with the Patriots" or "Just sold an assload of blow to the russians" crowd. 500hp mid-engined plastic car + retard eventually equals broken 500hp mid-engined plastic car and sometimes broken 500hp mid-engined plastic car + deceased retard.

I suppose there is some reporting bias as well... when someone balls up a couple hundred grand its news... another wrecked Cobalt or F-150 not so much.

Walterj makes an interesting point. At the One Lap event last night, there were lots of Porsches, BMW's and Corvettes, but not a single Ferrari, Lambo, etc.

I'm with the skewed sample. Every time a Ferrari gets scratched, someone posts a cellphone pic to the internet about how Ferrari drivers can't drive.

Well, yeah. The engine's in the wrong end.

Did anyone see how exactly that guy got stuck under the light post? Did the car even HIT the light post? What the Hell? I watched it four times and never saw the post fall or the guy standing there. (9/11 CONSPIRACY!!! IT WAS THE GOVERNMENT!)

at first I thought you were talking about the black one above. It definitely hit the lightpost, lol

but no, the one from the video? looks like it might have grazed it. hard to tell.

Great special effects. They made the crash look so real! The guy writhing on the ground pinned underneath the balsa light pole is a great actor too.

Ironically, I am in NY/NJ on business and went to the Mets game tonight. I'm staying by Newark tonight and drove through the city after the game. Heading south on Broadway, we drove right through the filming area! Luckily, we were not broadsided!
