The problem with Darth Emo is that he is just plopped into the storyline as an oversized ball of teen angst without any explanation of how he got that way. Yeah yeah Han and Leia divorce yadda yadda but seriously he's a psychotic toddler trapped in a man's body and given the Force to carry out all his darkest frustrated adolescent sex fantasies... but WHY is he like that?
*crickets*
That's why he's so unsatisfying as a character.
On the other hand, one of the things that I they did right with Kylo: Darth Vader's presence in the original material meant that the villain for the sequels had some very big shoes to fill. If the villain was human with Force powers, everyone would call him a Darth Vader wannabe. So - they decided to make a completely literal Darth Vader wannabe and show how disturbing that idea could be. I have to give them credit for taking what the audience reaction might be, and owning it instead of denying it.

More Ashoka, more Rosario Dawson?
Ok, I guess you win, Mouse
Yeah no surprise there, that episode launched her series just as much as it pushed the story ahead. She'll be looking for Thrawn.

If they include Michael Stackpole as writer, I'm in. But not the Alston stuff.

Finally, someone came here to FIGHT!
To be fair it's not really a fight as much as fact.
Firefly really is that good

Apparently the Mouse agrees with you: Firefly reboot on Disney +

I would argue that it's better to think of Star Wars as "future fantasy" than "science fiction".
The term I have heard is Science Fantasy, but Future Fantasy is actually more accurate a descriptions.
Disney acquiring the rights to Firefly is promising (no plans on any shows yet). I do wonder how well the characters will be re-created. The actors where pretty perfect for their rolls and trying to mimic that might come off weird.
I enjoy SW, the movies aren't the best but I was 6 when A New Hope came out and I was hooked. With that being said, I don't take them seriously and just enjoy the movies and TV shows for what they are. Cannon, not cannon, I don't really care. My middle son and I watched the latest episode of the Mandilorian last Friday, he is 12. When it was over he asked me a couple questions about SW and it dawned on me that he has not seen episodes 1-3 so we watched ep1. The best part was seeing him get into it, bad movie or not. Maybe we will watch t ep2 after the Madilorian this Friday.
Firefly/Serenity is good, hopefully Disney can pull off the reboot.

Actually SW is historical fantasy. ST is future fantasy. Don't make that mistake again..... you've been warned.

"long ago in a galaxy far, far away" has one "long" and two "far"s. To me this implies that it's far enough away that the light from it hasn't reached us yet, therefore it's in our future light cone. So by special relativity it's "Future fantasy". :)

I'll happily suspend disbelief. Set any rules you want. But once you set your own rules you need to follow them.

I'm not sure I'd watch a reboot sadly. I also don't know if they could use most the original cast, Book is dead obviously, but it's been a long time.
I think I'd rather see 20 year older Mal than someone else though too

Wait he wrote SW books? I'm a huge fan of his Battletech stuff.
Y'all see the Mandelorian season finale?
I knew that the Jedi was gonna be Spock! Bold move, but definitely the right one.
No mando spoilers please! I haven't watched it yet.

Friend said "man, they really cast him well. Absolutely nailed the manner of speech and mannerisms. Too bad he didn't look like him at all."
Me, who watched the credits specifically to see who they cast: ??????
In reply to Mr_Asa :
I thought it was CGI? I'll not spoil it if you haven't seen it yet, but I'll say it was done very well. Very well. And BIL said they've confirmed a season 3, so that's good news. The setup for that new power struggle could lead to some pretty cool stuff.
The ending fight scene with the secret cameo character was amazing. The fight style was so different from what we've seen before, and different from any of cameo's trainers. Closest to Kylo I think. Powerful and confident, slow almost. Nothing rushed and not a sweat broken. almost like it was nothing more than a well rehearsed dance instead of a fight. And considering, I think it was as fitting a style as could be imagined.
Are there going to be two or three show resulting from this? One for the weird hair "jedi", one for mando, and the one shown at the end, or is the end one the same as the mando continuation?
Someone suggested they should do a show for the ex imperial sniper guy played by the comedian (Bill Burr I think). Sorry I clearly suck at remembering the names.
