First world problems and all, but my days at work are BORING 99% of the time. If it wasn't for that other 1% that is extremely busy (and extremely unpredictable), I could probably start another profession online and do it entirely from my desk during normal office hours...
As it sits, my down days are an endless loop of GRM, facebook, and Gmail where I hope against hope that something has happened since I last checked 2-minutes ago... I need something to fill that void.
Could someone recommend to me a blog compiler, and then maybe share some of their favorite blogs? Or ANYTHING that would not require the use of headphones or hand tools. At this point I'm willing to try just about anything!
I do not have a motorcycle and have made a conscious decision to not own one citing safety, danger, etc.
But, all that would change if I allowed myself to spend time on ADVrider.com. Specifically, the Ride Report section. If I spent more time there, I'd live in Colorado, own a dual sport while somehow being unemployed for having spent an endless amount of time on the internet since the Ride Report section is a never ending read.
So, head over there. I suggest it with caution though since there is a risk you will never come back to GRM.
The site expedion portal https://expeditionportal.com and it's forum is another place I have to actively avoid because it too would have the power to suck me in and I'm not looking for a new addiction.
If I spent time on ExPo I would then have a converted Isuzu box truck, cab over, diesel with 4wd converted over to an overland camping machine to act as a base camp to my dual sport ADV trips.
oooooh, I had forgotten all about expeditionportal! I'll give ADVrider a gander. If I'm gone from GRM for more than a couple days, would you mind heading over there to find me?
Some favs from ADVrider. All one series (a multi year series)...
Our man, Vermin, plans to ride a derelict bike, with his young son, from Detroit to San Diego then sell bike and fly home
https://advrider.com/index.php?threads/detroit-to-san-diego-zen-and-the-art-of-motorcycle-negligence.265019/
The bike does not get sold so the following year the plan is to fly with young daughter to SD, drive the bike to Anchorage and sell the bike; fly home.

Board members think he should not sell so they take it on themselves to shuttle to bike back to him from AK to MI (the long way) to reunite him with the motorcycle.

If you run into formatting problems of the forum of these old threads, the author tried to preserve them over on his own site.
http://cackchronicles.com/rides/zen/ You might find these to be the very condensed version and containing only the words of the author so no peanut gallery replies to the author found in the forum.
Damnit John! I already have to stay away from expo, I've been to advrider but haven't been hooked, this will have to wait till Monday so I have a solid 5 days of work to binge.
one time I looked at metalmeet and allmetalshaping to see the cool things people we're building and hope to be that talented someday.....
I am still not that talented !
Oh that is perfect! That's the sort of adventure that can hold me over for a bit.
Metalmeet and all metalshaping might be bad ideas. There's a lot of scrap metal and fabrication tools in the other hangar. The temptation would be strong...
I thought I'd be safe from wanting to "adventure" since it's next to impossible (at least until next year). I was wrong. Those were a dang good read though.
Well, if I was wrong about that, I might as well go check out the metal threads Thanks guys
That stuff from ADV was old so I stopped over there to what is new. Here is one I could easily get sucked into as it currently evolves....

A couple from New Zealand are coming to America this August to do the TAT, Trans American Trail which is VA to OR via as much dirt road as possible. Their bike of choice are small Honda Groms.
In page 3 of the ADV thread they have a video from a NZ based test trip. Beautiful stuff. https://advrider.com/index.php?threads/tat-2018-honda-grom-edition.1324638/page-3
C90 Adventures – One man, one camera, no idea

Ed March goes from Asia back to the UK on a Honda 90 stepthru
now going from Alaska to Argentina on the Honda.....
Acts of Gord
If you've ever run a shop that attracts kids and idiots, this is your blog. Every smart assed comic book store stereotype you can think of. Totally awesome.

I've read some of Gord, might be time for a revisit!
That reminds me about Tales from Dishonest Used Car Dealership If you haven't already, it's worth a read.
I'm keeping this page open for reference as I go. The days are definitely going by faster :)
... and just like that, I've discovered feedly.com
