The job I applied for with Ramsey Industries came through yesterday when they called and offered me the job.
So today I emailed back in the signed job offer, background authorization paperwork, and went to take my drug test. I should be able to start Monday since I was laid off a few weeks ago.
The only possible hang up could be my mother took me out to dinner last and I had a few beers. But I don't even know if the do Urine Analysis for alcohol, it wasn't a test called out on the sheet they gave me. Never been an issue before, but now I'm kind of paranoid!
Awesome news!! Congrats!!
Congratulations!!! I wouldn't sweat the test. A couple of beers are long since metabolized.

Congrats! If they care about alcohol in the test, it isn't a company you want to work for culturally. And if they're getting a test that picks up alcohol after it has passed through your kidney's, it is a company you don't want to work for financially since they're paying WAY too much for their drug tests.
Thanks! I think you guys are right, a quick google of a 5 panel urine test makes no mention of alcohol.
You guys have no idea what a weight it is off my mind after having been laid off twice in the last 7 months!
Congratulations! (I know how much it sucks being unemployed.) This job should give you a lift. It will be a real pick me up. I'm glad you got the hook up. You are on the line for great things. (OK, that's all my crane stuff)
Congrats!
Do you get any employee discounts on their products? I'm asking for a "friend"
Congrats. If you were in an FAA controlled business, such as repairing airplane parts, then yes they would be concerned with alcohol and you would be subject to random's throughout your employment. Ramsey, not so much.
Congrats again on working for a cool company.
Just follow the 12 hours Bottle To Throttle rule and you will be fine. BTW, any corporate relation to Ramsey Winch?

you beat me to it ... the plant where I worked, was under the control of the FAA ... random drug tests, and if alcohol shows up, you're pretty much screwed .... because the tests are conducted during the work day, and there really shouldn't be ANY alcohol shows up in the results, it means you had to have been drinking during the work day ... not good
but for the pre-employment drug test, I'd have to assume that any beer you had the night before would have worked it's way through your system long before you went to take the test ..

Even in an FAA controlled business, if their drug tests are picking up alcohol in urine from the prior day, it is one of three things:
1: You went on a raging bender and (assuming the drug test is at 7AM) when you stopped drinking at midnight you had had 7 drinks in you. That means that if you started drinking at 7PM and stopped at midnight, you had 12 drinks over the night. Probably not going to happen.
2: You have a medical issue that you need to get checked out (kidney failure, liver failure, cancer of some sort, diabetes...)
3: You're producing alcohol in your gut. Often goes hand in hand with one of the above.

that was the point I was trying to make, when I said that if alcohol was picked up in the test that was administered late in the morning, that it had to be alcohol that was consumed sometime that morning .. because of the amt. you would have had to consume the night before for it still be being processed by the body that many hrs later
