OK, yeah that sounds kinda dirty but what you do with your iPod is your own business!

Anyway -

I'm not so much excited about the overpriced TomTom app as the hardware that will enable 3rd parties to utilize the GPS and allow us "Touchers" to finally use the GPS.

So its 190 dollars to turn my 300 dollar ipod into a 140 dollar GPS? I think i can manage a separate unit.

No, it's $90 for the hardware - currently only from TomTom but I'm sure that will change - and then $35 for software.

The point however is not the boxed manufactured solutions but what people will be able to do on their own writing apps, hacking or modding other hardware to work for less $$, etc.

Iphone already has solid GPS. The new ones (3gs) take advantage of the built-in compass to orient the map according to your current direction. Nice.

The Touch has been kinda left out on some of the coolest iPhone stuff. On the other hand, it can do probably 80-90% of what the iPhone can for a fraction of the cost.

Yeah, this is a big gap closer between the Phone and Touch IMO. Now if it just had a camera... Oh well, the next gen is rumored to fix this too!
