Too bad he couldn't have started with something productive, like pulling the plug on Lifetime

Gunman Shot and Killed After Hostage Standoff at Discovery Channel Building
A man known for protesting the Discovery Channel's environmental programming stormed the network's Maryland headquarters carrying a handgun on Wednesday, holding three people hostage for hours until he was shot and killed by police, according to authorities.
The hostages -- two Discovery Communications employees and a security guard -- were unhurt after the four-hour standoff. Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger said tactical officers moved in after officers monitoring the man on building security cameras saw him pull out a handgun and point it at a hostage.
The gunman was identified by Discovery Communications as James Jay Lee of San Diego, Calif., a man well-known to the building's employees because of his history of protesting the network.
Manger said the gunman had been wearing "what appeared to be metallic canister devices" when he entered the building.

It's everyone and everything related to the Bravo network that should be destroyed as thoroughly as possible, NOT the Discovery Channel or Lifetime.
There are only channels on cable I want, Versus and Fox Soccer Channel. And they don't even offer berkeleying Fox Soccer Channel in Huntsville. Stupid bastards.
if i didnt have to have teh interw3bz y0!!1! for the missus job, there would be no cable whatsoever, but its another $18/ mo, so what the hell, I get Speed tv and HD Theater, so i guess it all pans out.
Unfortunately that means SHE gets ABC Family and LMN - so more often than not Im trying to remove my eyes with my shoes than actually watch the TV.

I find my wife has on TLC often. Sure it used to be called The Learning Channel but now I just call it "The Freak Show Channel" and taunt her everytime for watching it.

I just wish you could get stations a-la-cart instead of having to take all the crap they add to the "package". I like movies so IFC/Sundance/HBO/Showtime are good to have when you're bored but other than a few other channels I could care less about 99% of what is on.

Agreed. I'd take about 10 or so channels and ditch the rest. I wouldn't have cable, but we need the internet (gf is in school), and cable is only $11 more a month. If I ditched cable, I'd loose a 10% discount, so my bill would go up $8, so I'm really paying $3 for cable.

They just took away our cable here at my apartment. Apparently we had been getting the good package free for a year. Now I get crappy channels. I miss the History channel, it was about all that I would watch.
The History Channel or the Hitler Channel? Wait a minute! Same thing!
I remember the first time I watched cable tv, there were ads and I was astounded. I thought people payed for cable because there were no ads. I have not paid for cable since... aside for broadband of course, it has ads but also unscrambled porn. Makes up for the ads dontcha know.

You owe me a netbook to replace the one I just spewed milk all over.
I watch local channels, versus for IRL, Speed, comedy central, and HD theater.

We have one good cable channel over here called 'Discovery Turbo', which plays old eps of TG, plus 'Wheeler Dealers', 'A Car is Born' etc. I think it's a UK channel.
Why are you still watching the television.
Aren't we all on the interwebs here?
Man, I have to think of everything....

I gave up cable ten years ago. The only time I catch any television whatsoever is when I happen to click it on while on the treadmill at the gym. It usually confirms that I made the right decision by canceling it. I think people have been conditioned to accept the constant bombardment of consumerism -- when you're away from it it's so blatant you can't believe that the public not only puts up with it, but pays money for the insult.
If I could get Speed/etc for an extra $15 I would. But you've got to buy the fancy digital package with an HD-DVR and such.
Cancelling all our cable (leaving the fast Internet) dropped our Cox bill $95/month.
If you catch Bloomberg TV they sometimes have a European super car races on sat , not licted in programming but they show it usually sat / sun afternoons

Bloomberg TV shows the FIA GT Championship, but I'd suggest checking local cable listings for actual air-times.
It seems Discovery has more history than the History Channel. What do ice road truckers or tree cutters have to do with history ?
