And if you want to mix genres a bunch, Alex Skolnick does a bunch of metal covers with his jazz trio.

Holy crap, David..thanks for that one. I was in my teens when I first heard a punk record, I went down that path. But..I thought (and still think) that Aerosmith wasn't really part of the "corporate rock" crap in the 70s. I'll confess..it wasn't until I was older that I drug my old "traditional" rock albums back out. I just kind of missed them. Eh, at least I kept them for that long..

The spoken lyrics kinda ruin that one for me, but it's still fun. Hell--who covers DR. WU?!
I am a big fan of covers, but I'm on a phone. Most of this should be on YouTube. I'm just going to post some favorites.
Nostalgia 77 covered Seven Nation Army https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNpidAAMQSo&feature=youtube_gdata_player
So did Vyv Long

Take R.E.M...bench Michael Stipe, and bring in Warren Zevon on VOX. Now you have "The Hindu Love Gods". And they do an amazing cover of Prince's "Raspberry Beret".

This is a bit more on the bluesy side, but my all-time favorite cover is Eric Clapton and BB King doing Sam & Dave's "Hold On, I'm Comin'". The last 2 1/2 minutes are pure blues guitar bliss.

Joe Cocker has a lot of good covers...
Tempted / Squeeze; I Heard It Through The Grapevine / Marvin Gaye; Unchain My Heart / Ray Charles; Cant Find My Way Home / Blind Faith; Leave Your Hat On / Randy Newman; Whiter Shade of Pale / Procol Harum; Love is Alive / Gary Wright; Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me / Elton John;
...off the top of my noggin.

I had forgotten that he did that Squeeze song, truly a great cover. He's excellent, my wife doesn't like him though=/

I remembered this when a student did a presentation on Butch Walker last week, but sadly it's not on youtube or on the web anywhere--
Mervelous 3 doing Reelin' in the Years
I don't have a link, but look up Flaming Lips cover of "Seven Nation Army". It's actually two covers in one. They sing the lyrics to the Butthole Surfers "Moving to Florida" to the tune of "Seven Nation Army".
Not sure if this counts, because the styles are the same but various farm goats covering tayor swifts - I Knew You Were Trouble
