pretty ridiculous.
anybody have any ideas where to get one other than breaking down and going to a jy?

Arte there any Z Car clubs local to you?? I seem to remember one being in the Raleigh area, but could be wrong...

Are you missing parts, or is it just worn out? Unless I'm mistaken, all the Datsun 4 speeds were similar in design, but any you find in the junkyard will be just as worn out as yours.

I'd check with Nissan first- I know some of the bushings were still available last time I had one out a couple of years ago. Failing that, I'd suck up to a machinist...

its just not there=/
I'll see if I can remember my logon (or get it sent to me) for the carolina z club or whatever its called around here, I had forgotten about it but I registered there when I got the car.
I'd like to go with a t5 anyway, but getting just a shifter for my 4 speed is a lot better for my budget right now lol.
Thanks all

Try the classifieds at hybridz.org or classiczcars.com

Do you mean just the shift lever? I have a few somewhere but my garage is so trashed right now that it would take me a week to find any. Sorry.

ya I guess just the shift lever, this is the state of the trans right now, just the collar sitting there, no bushings or lever or knob. I'll be buying a ratsun knob for it though:
I have a ton of parts that someone resto-ing or resto-modding a z car would need, if you have some other spares laying around you'd like to trade. Even if you've got nothing to trade but need something, then just hit me up and I'll try to hook you up!

The basic shifter and pin were used on all kinds of Datsuns of the era. Even a 720 pickup would have one like that, only longer. For that matter, it wouldn't be hard to make one out of a Miata shifter since it has the same small ball on the bottom. Grind the sides of the big pivot ball flat, then drill a hole crossways and voila! Datsda shifter.

i have a buddy thats doing a kinda restoration on his z-car, and i think he either just put in or is putting in a zx 5 speed. i can see if he has a shifter he wants to trade for some trim or interior parts, send me an email through the board with what you've got and i'll see if he's interested.

Look up Tidewater Z Auto Service and talk to Todd. He should be able to help you out.
