All related to the Scott Burgess vs the Detroit News editing scandal.
We are all behind Scott on this, trust me.

I'm not. Never liked his writing - a very sensationalist "look at my wit" kind of guy who never let facts get in the way of a turn of phrase. If you look at the edits they did, most should have been done out of concern for style before a complaint even appeared.
I agree, Scott Burgess does try very hard to come off as the biggest rooster in the hen house, and yes when it all washes down it leaves the fact that he is a cock. However in this case they were wrong for caving into a representative from a dealership regarding the article and asking for the article to be changed.
I WANT Chrysler to succeed, yet I will not risk saying the 200 (or its sister car) is worth buying for anything other than a rental fleet. They are crap, Burgess was right, the editors were wrong and even retorted AND added a written apology to the writer.
I never read Burgess, although I support anyone who stands behind their opinion. Having said that... I believe that anyone who randomly chooses to slag a vehicle just to appear unbiased, or to fulfill their hate quota... is as useless a reviewer as the sycophants who love everything or the guys who bash 'em all. I've driven better cars than the 200 (the Elantra I took back today comes to mind) but it was a long way from being a turd.

I guess I have to disagree on his review being posturing - I think the review was dead nuts accurate. Think about what you just said, you compared the 200 - a car Chryco and Detroit are trying to vault to the top with, a car they are trying to use to "redefine American auto making" - as being sub standard to a base model Korean import compact. So when the guy calls them out, using clear terminology, none of which is offensive or vulgar, his bosses bow down to advertising dollars and start mincing words. Thats called being cowardly. I say good for Scott on this one. The car may not be a total crapbox, but it is in no way a game changer, .and if it is, its changing in favor of asian automakers. Scott stood his ground. Perhaps more of that needs to happen.
