I thought a red corvette was the remedy for balding?

Definitely balding. Tunawife won't allow a shaved head. I just cut it short and deal with it.

A full ear to ear beard on a chrome dome always looks weird to me. Though a goatee type beard can look good. Depends a whole lot on the face.
Thin and splotchy head hair just looks bad to me. As does a long fringe or the always awful comb over. There comes a point where shaving just seems the right thing to do. If not daily, at least keep it to a stubble any Marine would accept.
These guys disagree.
Actually, they agree with me. They have the goatee type beards, not the ear to ear full beards.
None the less, it's a personal choice. Go for a mullet comb over if you wish, I don't care. The OP asked for some opinions of personal tastes, I gave a few of mine.
My wife throws a fit when I shave my face. Which suites me fine. I come from a long line of men with full on zz top beards. I don't plan on ever trimming it again, as long as my employer is Ok with it. I haven't touched it in a couple months and it's almost down to my collar bone.
Remember that Seinfeld episode where they obsessed over the placement of the top button on shirts.
I’ve got the same issue with my Wahl trimmer where I want an attachment that’s between the shortest and second to shortest length:
I use the second to shortest length but I have to trim my hair at least once a week to avoid getting an “electrocuted clown” look going as my hair is super straight and wiry.
I’m 51 and I’ve been trimming my hair for seven years. I’ve got the same Wahl I started with and even though I dropped it on concrete once and I stopped bothering to oil it years ago, it still works perfectly.
think about it...I could buy a rough Miata with all the money I’ve saved and I could get it running / looking good with all the time I’ve saved.
I have nothing of use for this zombiefied thread except that at 45 I still have to have my hair thinned because it's so thick and full.
Go ahead and hate
If I start going bald, I'm going to shave my head and grow a fumanchu.
My wife sincerely hopes that I don't go bald.
In reply to BoostedBrandon:
Mine started going thin in my early-30's, and I said by the time I couldn't part it any more I'd shave it off. That happened about 8-years ago. I don't bother to shave it smooth with a razor, just run the trimmer around it periodically - more frequently during summer than winter. I don't miss it.
Mine is not thinning. Although I shaved it about 8 months ago so it doesn't grow fast
I had thick enough to stall a trimmer hair until I hit 21. Then it all started going away. I razored it for a long tinge, but now I just knock it down with the trimmer when I think about it. I've always let my goatee grow though. It's currently 5.5 years long now. And having just trimmed my winter beard, I've got mutton chops now. I still haven't decided if I like the look or not.
Defying the odds so far. My dad's hair is thinning in his mid-50s and there's a long legacy of male baldness on my mom's side, but I still grow hair like an anime character. Plenty of gray though, that started when I was a teenager.

I used to shave my head because I hate having long hair.
Then I noticed I managed to give myself a bald spot at the front where the trimmers cut it shorter than everywhere else.
Curse my lumpy head.

Knock on wood, no baldness for me to look out for. Very thick hair for pretty much all of the datapoints available. At 27, I'm surprised I haven't seen a bit of grey or white yet. But maybe that is because I'm blonde and it just blends in.
Zombie thread brought back, but my opinion from a year and a half ago hasn't changed.
Have male pattern baldness, nearly no hair left on top. But no way on earth am I shaving my head. Not happening. I keep what's left short and am waiting for the day I can afford a transplant or something.

Wahl clippers with the good ol #1.
If you shave your heard then you have to shave it everyday, like your face.
Every 5 or 6 days is fine.
The crappy part is that on shaving day (day 0), you can't wear a knit hat. It will just slide right off your head.
I've shaved my head in the shower every three days for the last 11 years.
Day 1: in the winter, knit hats come off.
Day 2: shirts are hard to get off because it's like Velcro.
Day 3: I hate the little bit of fuzz, so I cut it again.
Clippers and no guard is the cheapest way to go. A $40 set of Wahls will last years and years to amortize the $40 to basically nothing.
I use 5 blade cartridges which last about 3 weeks for me. It's more expensive than clippers, but I wanted to destroy any possible evidence of balding before the inevitable happened. I like to think I resemble Bruce Willis from Die Hard... but I really don't.
Confession #2: My hair's not actually thinning. I just habitually yank out the white ones.
you guys really picked up that canoe and ran with it, didn't ya?

Doesn't the trimmer have a lever for depth? You should be able to use that to adjust for at least half the difference between them.
Or get a spare "second shortest" at a yard sale / online / etc and add belt sander to your depth?
This is the reason I go to the gym 4-5 times a week now.
There's not much I can do about my hair disappearing. If I'm going to be bald, I'm not going to be skinny and bald.
Now that you are single you are going to want something sexy up top that starts a conversation. What woman can resist Lego men?

Thoughts? Inputs? Anyone have the number for Trump's toupee maker?
BTW, Trump's hair isn't a toupee, it's a "comb-around." His hair's thinning on top so he grows it extra long on one side and swirls it around his head to make it look thicker. Here you can see his hairdo being disassembled:
