Hey, he's a really nice guy and all, but his music is not exactly my style, ya know. More of a Jimmy Buffet kind, OK? None the less, he is an immensely talented musician. I do wish I was there for the westboro nonbaptist thing.

Way too many hipster "I liked Grohl before you did" references to be made, so I will just say, thanks for continuing to make me love your work Dave, et al. Always been a fan.

Not a big FF fan, but I think dave is a musical genius, and nate mendel is on my top 5 of greatest bass writers/players of all time. If I had the chance to meet dave, I would beg for another probot record.

I saw Grohl with that other band he used to play with. Thanks to the wonder that is the internet, I found the set list. I'll add that I don't remember Curt "vaulting" up to the projector screen. As I remember, he accidentally kicked the screen while crowd surfing. The screen then unrolled and was torn off like a giant paper towel. After that the house lights came on and, yeah, all hell broke loose. It was awesome.

10/05/91 - 40 Watt Club, Athens, GA Set (incomplete) Smells Like Teen Spirit • Breed • Endless, Nameless

Notes The band was drunk and out of tune, but the show was apparently incredible, according to attendees. During "Endless, Nameless," Kurt vaulted up to the movie projection screen and ripped it out of the ceiling, inciting the crowd to get onstage with the band and trash everything. Meanwhile, Dave kicked his drums over, then piled them up in no particular order and played them with microphones. After the noise and destruction, the band piled their instruments onto the drums, wished the crowd a good night, and left the stage, according to an attendee.

I believe you're thinking of Them Crooked Vultures, with Josh Homme of QOTSA and John Paul Jones from Led Zepplin. I love that album.

I've liked Dave and the Foos since the first time I saw the "Big Me" (Mentos spoof) video. My respect for them has gone up infinitely.

BTW, the costumes are a reference to a YouTube video they did called "Hot Buns." It's hilarious unless you sympathize with the WBC's position, and it's also NSFW.

No, I think he's referring to "Songs for the Deaf", the QOTSA album that Dave Grohl played drums on.

D'oh! Thanks for reminding me. I'll have to break that one out, I haven't listened to it in a while.

I have to say that as one of the best ways of responding to the WBC people that I have seen. Unless there was a lot more that wasnt in that clip, nothing even happened that they can complain about.

Yeah, they are nothing but legal vultures, looking for someone to sue. A sleazy attorney pretending to be a church. Foos didn't give them a thing to file a complaint for.
