Doug Wimbish totally rules. And his pedal board is so big that other pedal boards orbit it.
Recently I have been clearing out almost all of my music gear just because I never really play anymore. Ran across this the other day and was really glad I kept a beater bass around. (It is Flea, part of a bass lesson DVD he did a few years back) Thinking back, the most fun I ever had making music was playing bass. Been running through my scales and relearning old stuff, properly learning new skills and just enjoying the bass for what it is, and not thinking of it as an extension of a guitar driven rhythm section. It is the root. The foundation. I am a bass player and proud of it.
The first jam he played was pretty interesting. In a band setting though i love super deep bass, it just kicks the mix in the daddy bags in a wonderful way
In reply to David S. Wallens :
That’s an interesting thumb technique he’s using. Quite a pedal setup too. There’s times I wish mine was that big...then I have to tote it around and think otherwise.

Yeah, he played that when I saw him. Guess it's one of his regular grooves. Super cool. I never video concerts, but for some reason recorded that jam when I saw them.
