forza's really embarrassing the GT series with both updating current stuff and turn around on new games.

youre right, that might be the stupidest mistake GT5 made, aside from missing all the cool engine swaps, drivetrain swaps, etc.
I just got the new Need for Speed and the new Dirt. How many racing games should I be forced to buy?
LOL, you can never have enough.
I'm really looking forward to Forza 4, as I recently sold GT5 to fund my LA Noire purchase.
Not to derail the thread, but how are you liking Dirt 3?
Yep, I took back GT5 months ago. It was the same boring, drive crappy cars to unlock more crappy cars or build high HP monsters and obliterate the field.
I haven't even picked up DiRT 3 yet, and those are always way better than GT5.
Anyone know if they put Pike's Peak back in DiRT 3?
Is it so wrong that I want a video game to have THE ENTIRE PIKE'S PEAK COURSE!!!!!!!!!!
I remember racing semi's up the portion of Pike's Peak they gave us in DiRT. That high, swaying vantage point made for some fun racing!

It is a pretty good extension of the series. I like the arcade feel of some of the events, but the trailblazer and rally events are still the best. It is much more realistic.
Maybe I am a fuddy duddy, but I will never understand the physics of video game drifting. I am either going too fast, or not fast enough, and I don't know how to keep the drift going. The Gymkhana events are difficult for someone like me...
I have not gotten far enough in Dirt 3 to know if there is Pikes Peak in it or not. Maybe I should do some investigating tonight. I am crossing my fingers that the answer is yes. (BTW, I completed the second season last night. it's addicting.)

That's my problem with all of these games. I don't have the time to play a game in 'career mode'. I haven't turned my xBox on in months...

Swaps i can deal without. I just really need the liveries.

Oh i'd like it, but i don't feel REAL bad about not being able to swap a KLZE or FE3 into my Miatas in the game.
I've not played any of the Forza games, but the liveries was/is a great idea. I too would love to have that option in GT5. I actually bought a PS3 just for GT5 and it is the only game I have. The only thing that makes the game fun for me is racing against real people. The races in the game against the AI cars are just there to get money to buy and mod more cars. When PSN was down for all that time I think I turned the PS3 on once.
I just want to be able to make liveries on the pc. I find the controller way to frustrating and give up after some basic stripes and letters.

I'm not a gamer, and have played NONE of the GT/Forza games. I am, however, curious about the idea of using one to better familiarize myself with our local track (Sebring.) I'd like to someday to an HPDE there, and think that knowing the layout of the track before hand would be helpful. I've done parade laps there a few times, but think that a simulator/game might be useful.
I am hoping that Forza 4 will cause the price of older consoles and games (Doesn't Forza 2 have a modern configuration of Sebring?) to drop into the pocket change range so I can pick one up cheap.

Dude...Forza 3 is 15 dollars for a brand new copy! Check it!

OK, the price of the game is not a problem! The last time I priced getting a console and wheel, though, it was a big chunk of the cost of a PBOC track day at Sebring. Since that's literally ALL I would use it for, I didn't feel like I could justify the cost. What I need is for microsoft to release a couple new generations of xbox to drive the cost of older consoles down.
Don't buy the wheel. I didn't like it, and it actually made me slower. (not easy, I am slow to begin with.)
I don't use the wheel at all, and have several times in the top 1000 using just the controller.
I've raced at Sebring for 20 years now, and while the track in Forza is fairly accurate, it still misses some of the important things. The bumps in turn 17 are, for the most part, accurate, and turn 1 is pretty close too. But so much of the rest of the track is just 'visually' accurate. The concrete on the inside of turn 10 is not there, and the bumpiness on the left side of the track under braking for the hairpin is not there either.
