Responded. Can't beat anything posted in this thread from Enterprise or Hertz.

Where do you search for deals? Through orbitz/expedia/priceline, or direct on the rental agencies site?

The best I seem to be able to find for a trip next week is like $40/day + the insurance policy.

Answer: All the above.

I typically start with Priceline's rates. Once plugged in, be sure to hit the button that says something like "show more companies."
It seems that Priceline sells off the front page and it can be not until you hit "show more" that you see the best.

Once I find the company with the best Priceline price, I then go directly to that company's own website.
Each company has some sort of "deals" tab (except Enterprise.)
I then see if I can beat the Priceline price. If still not beaten, I have used Priceline's "name your own" with great success. Just keep in mind that "name your own" is true pre-paid with no cancel capability. In addition do not expect to get the same rate if you need to keep the car another day. It is more like full price for that additional day.

Be sure to compare the price "all in" since airport fees and taxes can easily add $15 or more per day. Avoid renting at the airport if possible.
Also, Priceline's Name your own seems to work best at airport locations where competition is much higher.
