Carib Lager

I dont ever see this beer in Central NC, so I bought some when I was at the beach last weekend. I didnt get a chance to try it until now, and I can say that this beer is a knock-off Corona. It tastes almost identical. If you love Corona, then this beer is great.

Ha. I should have mentioned that we were talking about starting a "Beer tasting club" on here. I didnt really like this beer I give it 2.5/5 Limes.

I think this was about $8.50 for a sixer and Corona is about a buck cheaper.

I had a nice beer sampling experience today. I got to compare two excellent Belgian Trippels that were totally different.

St. Bernardus was a drier, more drinkable example with more spicy and fruity notes. Better for spring/summer to sit in the shade and relax with.

St. Fuillen was a heavier, sweeter, more complex example with more caramely and woody notes. Better for fall/winter to sit inside in a library or plush chair.

Edit: As for Carib, I like Kalik (the beer of the Bahamas) better. I doubt you can find it outside the Caribean though.

I had the beer from the Bahamas last month when I went on vacation. It was better than this!

This thread makes two thoughts spring to mind, only related to one another by beer:

1: Effenbert. Anybody seen it in the U.S.? I've only heard of it as a World Superbike sponsor, but I figured that among the supporters of WSBK, there aren't many whose products I'm likely to try, but I'd have one of those...

2: Salanis, you're going to Germany to pursue the brew, no? I just got back, and while the Munich portion of my trip involved very little beer due to a stomach bug, I had a taste of a phenomenal dunkel at the Andechs brewery/monastery a reasonable train/bus ride outside of Munich. Beautiful area, too. I'm not suggesting a beer I had a taste of is worth a big trip, but you might look into it if you're going to be in that area as it's just generally neat. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to catch a brewery tour.

Yep, going to Germany to study beer. I am planning as part of that to take weekend trips to various famous breweries and brewing towns to learn and experience all I can. Munich is going to be a big part of that. There is so much good beer and brewing there that I'm sure I'll take multiple trips to Munich and will probably have opportunity to try that beer.

I like Dunkel bier.

It may be that part of its appeal lies in its extreme scarcity, but the few Samuel Smith's Organic Lagers that I have consumed truly tasted like an ambrosial gift from the gods.
