Yeah, kinda wish they would go back to running OEM street tires just for the sliding around action :)
I have to say, with the tires and suspension on those cars, they are way more interesting to watch them most other kinds of racing. You can see much better what the car is doing.
If you took that sort of setup and bumped the HP about 50% I think you would have a very entertaining series to watch. Probably would be a handful to drive though.
basically, that's part of why local circle track racing is pretty fun to watch, the cars move around a lot more it seems.
That right there is why I think NASCAR should go "spec" and use SS rental cars. Run what ya brung. I'd watch the HELL out of that, and we'd get wicked cars like in the 60's and 70's.
Not only would it be far more interesting to watch, it would do some very interesting things to the new cars that are offered. I am sure we would see the return of the homologation specials.
