Fun stuff in Seattle?

Mrs. 'Maro and I are heading to Seattle, WA for a couple days and were hoping for some wip on fun and interesting things to do.

We're planning on the underground tour and pike's place.

What else is worth seeing?

Any good brewpubs or restaurants?

If it is nice do a walk on ferry boat ride. It is cheap and the views are awesome.

Here is a sampling of brewers or restaurants that should be visited on any trip to Seattle if you like beer. And most of them are quite excellent if you don't drink too.

Casa de Javelin is about 100 miles south, but if you plan on staying in-city I highly recommend the Museum of Flight, the Sci-Fi Museum (located around the back of the Music place by the Space Needle), and a ferry boat ride.

If you can get to Ballard, my fave brewpub is Hale's. Yum. +1's on everything mentioned. What sort offood joints are ya looking for? That town does 'em pretty well. If you're downtown, last time I was there Gameworks still had my favorite videogame, sega rally in the fullmotion you're-sort-of-in-a-car version, but I dunno if they still have it as it's been a couplethree years since I've been there. Still a vidgame mecca if you're into that sort of thing. The Ferrari dealership downtown is always good for a drool and there are kart tracks sorta scattered about the place. There's even an electric indoor one downtown. It's a K1 Speed iirc... The best one is at Pacific raceways but that's a good hour outta Seattle. Have fun!

The Experience Music Project is pretty cool. And it's in a neat building.

I would skip the underground tour - Its cool & all, but probably drawn out longer than it needs to be. However, it starts in Pioneer square - worth walking around (its hip; there's a utilikilt store & its someone dicy ;)

I am partial to the elysian brewery - head to the one on capitol hill (right up pike from the market).

Its got hundreds of great restaurants - tap room grill has 160+ beers on tap; dahlia lounge has fantastic (but a little spendy) food, owner/chef was a winner on iron chef.

It all depends where your staying though.

In reply to Trans_Maro: Try the tour of the Boeing plant up in Everett if you have a chance.100+ acres under one roof.

I worked there in the 777 days when there were 30,000 employees on site and you'd see 6 or more 747s in the same bay.

Another vote for the Museum of Flight and Boeing plant tour.

Also, the Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum in Kent is a neat little collection of boats and memorabilia.

When I hit Pike's I like to get some Piroshki's, just a simple guilty pleasure and nice to walk and munch on.

The Seattle Art Museum is a nice visit and a good place to park downtown.

FAO Schwartz is gone unfortunately, but the GameWorks arcade is still there, which is fun to hit when raining.

Of course Seattle International Raceway (Pacific Raceways aka Kent) is a ways south of Seattle in Kent. Might be worth looking at their schedule to see if they have anything interesting going on while you're there. Neat place to visit, especially the back side of the track if you can catch a ride around the track somehow.

When we were in the area, we went to Hurricane Ridge in Olymipic National Park. We also went to Cannon Beach just over the state line in Oregon. (It's where The Goonies was filmed). Other than that, I have nothing.

Well, we've done the underground tour and a bit of shopping. The tour was pretty decent, got lots of pictures.

I tried to get to the taphouse tonight but the insanity of downtown Seattle caused that to be a huge clusterberkeley.

Whoever planned the streets of downtown Seattle needs to wallow in their own filth as punishment for calling themselves a city planner.

We're headed for Pike's place tomorrow and we'll see how that goes.

Need to find a decent place to eat at the moment.

There is a cool Japanese bookstore in the international area of Seattle as well.

We went this summer. Get the Seattle citypass. It gets you tickets to 6 sights.

Harbor cruise Flight museum Aquarium EMP Science center w/imax movie And day and night trips to the top of the space needle

All that for $59 per person. It's sweet.

Also Dicks drive in is pretty good. Go to the REI store in Seattle its awesome. Be sure to ride the SLUT while you are there (see Amazon and Tesla while you are there) For affordable drinks and decent food on the waterfront go to pier 54 and Ivars. Happy hour all day and a mess of "apetizers" that really are little meals. We feed/drank 4 people with dessert for like $75.

We really liked Seattle and will visit again.

I am sitting in the house just outside the Seattle and it is raining hard.......I something this I will move/visit somewhere else...

If you have a spare day, I'd take the ferry over the San Juan Islands and see yourself some orcas. Or if the weather is clear, fly over there with Kenmore aviation (never did that myself, but it would be cool).

if you're still checking this thread whilst you're in town, I thought up a couple other stops to make.. Uwajimaya in the international district. There aren't very many Japanese grocery stores elsewhere in the US, and there's a whole lotta wierd stuff there. Then just down the street at the top of 6th Avenue is Pacific Food Imports. Their cheese counter is 60 feet long. They sell I dunno, 100 different Italian canned tomato things... they are very rough on my wallet...a fun stop for anyone what likes food.

We're back, safe and sound.

Had a decent trip on the second day, tried the Piroshkis, they're awesome.

Hit the antique stores, came back with a couple stained glass windows for the house, a 1941 Chevy service manual and a 1940's Texaco 5lb grease tub, full.

Hit Scuttlebutt Brewing in Everett on the way home, the red ale is awesome.
