Seriously. It hurts to think about what we are doing to the current generation of children. I watched The Flinstones when I was a kid, but even then I knew it was not historically true.

I actually know lots of people who buy into this stuff, otherwise intelligent people who always say "you just have to have faith" and/or "all things are possible for god" when presented with the scientific evidence that proves them wrong.

People are actually still looking for the remains of Noah's Ark. I have friends that are 100% convinced that the whole Noah's Ark story is literally true. You can't argue with them.

This is actually one of the things I don't understand about fundamentalism. My Grandparents were Christians. My Parents were Christians. They had no problem with accepting evolution, they just thought that their god started it, and filed it away in the "Works in Mysterious Ways" department. Being harassed at their churches about that kind of stuff is why they all quit attending Church (about the mid-1980s or so).

The two guys that carved up a wooden lizard and took the photos back in 1936 fessed up. It's a hoax.

One guy died a few years ago, one is still kicking. (and laughing)

An artist in Minneapolis created a replica of the Loch Ness Monster and set it loose in the city lakes a few years ago. The park board moves it around to different lakes each year, I think it's pretty funny.

There is a good chapter in here on that very thing... a good read. I wish it was cheap enough to hand out a copy to everyone in the whole damn country.

I will take a stand and say that I think macro evolution is a crock of crap. I disagree with a lot in this article but the view that previous posters have taken isn't very broad either.

I purport that neither evolution nor creation can be proven nor dis-proven and belief in either takes faith. Both sides have been proven to bend the truth in attempting to prove their side right. Both sides do not follow the scientific theory; you propose a hypothesis and then try to disprove it as true. They both started with a "truth" and tried to build up the evidence to support their view, ignoring countering views. I have looked at available research and made my decision.

“Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it” You can apply that where you see fit.

As I said in the other thread, I've basically lost all hope in humanity.

Just going to enjoy my ride while I'm here.
