I need to move a sectional sofa, a chair and a few end tables from a friend in Charlotte to me in Gainesville. I priced a one way Penske or Uhaul truck rental and was shocked by the price.

Given the ingenuity of the GRM crowd, does anyone have any alternate suggestions or interest in helping? I'm willing to compensate.

Could you fit it all into a Mini van? Price out a one way rental for a mini van, specifically a Chrysler with "stow and go" seating.

Good thought, but it's too much furniture. It is a huge sectional, a leather club chair and 2 end tables.

I moved the better part of 10x15 packed shed for about $75 of a uhaul trailer and $300 or so in gas for the astro van...

rent uhual trailer for "in town", drive van with no back seats in it... load up when I got there, sleep at aunts house, drive home

about the cheapest way we could move as much stuff as we needed to.

Just make sure the U Haul trailer is thoroughly checked out first. Probably better off borrowing a decent car trailer and investing in some good tarps.
