We have 2 dogs, Kyra (12) and Nellie (5). When we brought home our son, Nellie immediately found a new, higher purpose in life. Protect. That. Boy.

Oooh.
I'd love to have a Bengal, but deep down I know that I'm not home enough to keep it properly entertained.
While not furry, Nora is the newest addition to the family. She was brought into Wild@Heart rescue, who we volunteer with, for a misaligned jaw & missing eye. She also has marks from previous injuries, and it’s likely she was attacked by a dog when she was younger. She’s about 15-20 years old. Unlike most Gulf Coast box turtles, who are shy and try to avoid human contact, Nora enjoys laps & doesn’t seem bothered by people at all.
The concern is that due to her jaw misalignment, it could over-grow on either side and prevent her from eating. We’ve also discovered that she will refuse solid foods in favor of soft food, so her new diet consist of baby foods & finely chopped veggies, frozen into ice cube trays, and allowed to thaw into a gel before feeding.
The original plan was to build a large enclosure in our backyard for her to live in, while we would supplement her diet and and monitor her for any medical needs. However, she’s been in captivity for a couple months or more by now, and has zero interest in being outside. I think she might think she’s a cat, tbh.
The new updated plan is to complete the enclosure & put her in it frequently to ensure she’s getting enough sunlight & vitamin-D, but allow her to continue to live in our dining room/kitchen(with the cats & rabbit), but provide a UV light and warm area for her to sleep. For this winter, at least, we will keep her inside rather than allowing her to hibernate/brumate outside(which, while risky, is generally considered to offer them a longer life).

Ha. My sister has a Bengal... also named Zoe.
This is Porter (named for the beer). He's a border collie / corgi mix, allegedly. Got him from a rescue like 7 or 8 years ago. Don't know why anyone would have given him up.
This is Tali, who sits on everything I try to read:
And this is Princess Penelope Kleinenschwartzenkatzen:
This one isn't ours, but an occasional house guest for dogsitting. He's a sweet yellow lab named Bailey:

Princess penelope little black cat? I had to cheat for part of it, but you somehow chose like 3 of the 4 german words i know that aren't cars.

Good call, they are very sociable critters. Here's hoping things change so you can get a couple. Of course that'll be the end of you having nice things...we hear galloping followed by a huge crash, we hardly even look up anymore....

Close. Katzen is plural, because she's from a family of little black cats. And I almost forgot my daughter's rabbit named Shadow.
The little munchkin:
Wandered into the garage 3 years ago weighing just under a pound, with fleas, heartworm, ear mites, and his ribs showing.
Got all that fixed, and now he's 15 lbs, healthy and happy. He knows sit:
And shake:
Such a good dog! :p

Tina was a tiny kitten that crawled up to my wife at the office mailbox, she’d have never survived in the wild. Got her so young she didnt really know how to “cat” normally until gene came along. Gene was a adoption that had clearly been abused as a kitten. Probably by someone who looks like me(NOT me!). Took him a LONG time to not run like crazy when i was around. But hes pretty much past that now and likes to snuggle when hes not running around crazy.
Omg! You have my cats! The black one is turbo because he doesn't go anywhere slow. The big tortoise shell is cowboy because that's my nickname and he acts just like me!

How many toes does he have?
I didn't notice that until you pointed it out.
My Max was a polydactyl as well. He also had hind legs a bit too long, so when he walked he sort of waddled like a raccoon instead of walking like a cat.
We got him as a kitten after he had been thrown out of a car at the police during a chase. Max had... behavioral issues. He didn't really know "how to cat", he did NOT get along with the other cats we had because they didn't understand him and vice-versa. When the other cats died of old age, it was just him and he settled down a bit. But he liked to growl like a dog, even as he was walking up to you with his ears and whiskers forward and tail high. Just don't touch him unless he touches you first.
Oh, and he'd get really pissed off if you came home and he smelled other cats on you. Made visiting friends with cats a bit awkward. Jealous little bugger
He was an shiny happy person, but that was part of his charm - he wasn't a house ornament, he was simply one of the residents of the house and you had to respect his space.
Anyway, I meant to post this before in response to "good dog"...
In reply to TJL :
6 on the front (extra thumb on each). With polydactyls, sometimes they arent fully formed, but his are, extra functional claw and everything.
He is incredibly well behaved, but similar to knurled's, he growls when people he doesnt know try to come in. Also occasionally "chuffs" in that cat way. Usually followed by hiding under the sofa, then quickly back to normal goofball status once he realizes everythings ok.

Max lived with me for something like 15 years and he still didn't really like being near me unless there was someone else in the room. The morning he died, though, he sat outside my bedroom door and kept meowing until I woke up.
Silly little bugger.
