I just saw these lift master elite 8500 garage door openers at my nephew's new house.
Boy am I sold. I have two doors in my pole barn that I would like to install these on but liftmaster's website shows professional installs only.
They don't look that difficult to install.
Has anyone put one of these up and do you know if it will work on a 10' or 12' high door?
I forgot. They install onto the end of the spring pipe

I bought one after the recommendations on here and while I didn't self-install it, the price my local official Liftmaster installer quoted me for taking down the old, broken conventional opener and installing the 8500 with a backup battery was good enough that it was worth it just having them come out and do the whole install. I'm definitely going to replace the one for the other garage door with an 8500 as well, they're that good.
I've installed three (see above). They are easy to install and so quiet that all other garage door openers are dead to me.
I have two.
Be sure to get the box so that the door can be opened, closed, position viewed, and alarms set from an app.
I missed the original post. I guess I need to spend more of my time here.
Does anyone know the minimum amount of pipe that needs to extend from the end of the spring ?
One door I have plenty of length, But the second door I have 1 1/2 inches to attach the motor.
