It is a pretty simple job, as long as you know what you are doing. I fix my own at home, but pay to have the big ones done at the shop.  The commercial doors take more winding than I like to do.

Easy peasy Japanesey.  As stated earlier socket extensions work the treat.  Safety glasses (or face shield if you are worried), decent leather gloves, get all valuables including yourself and your easily dented car out of the throwing distance.

Take your time.  Its not hard.  Guys stupider than you do it every day.

I’d at least call for a price. I was shocked at how cheap it was for a couple guys to come out and fix mine a few weeks ago. Gear on the opener sheared off. I figured they’d say I needed a new opener. Fixed the gear and serviced both doors for $150.

After hearing a spring break on a commercial 12x12 garage door and watching the repair guy work there's a zero percent chance I ever do it myself. The 12x15 doors really take a lot of tension.
