I need a new one. Mine is really hard to clean and the top design is terrible. The springs fall off within the first week, the pivots bend such that the top falls in, and the latch fails such that the top has to be pried loose.

I still want a top, but it has to fit in the cabinet where the old one is. I went to lowes and Walmart with a tape measure and came up empty handed.

A co-worker was not having much luck finding a trash can to fit his kitchen cabinet, so he just made one out of a (heavy weight type) plastic storage box using two door hinges and some small bolt's. I only saw a pic but he said it worked well.

Go look at baby diaper pails. Can't remember what my brand is but it''s not a diaper genie. It's wide side to side but narrow front to back. It has a lid and internal lid with lock to keep baby out. Now baby is older, internal lid lock was removed. Looks like a perfect fit for what you need based on your picture.

Try Bed, Bath & Beyond or Bye Bye Baby. Both are at shops of Greenridge.

BB&B has so many different shape and size trash cans.

I bought a big industrial quality wastebasket from Grainger some years ago and it's held up great http://www.grainger.com/. I haven't looked to see if they sell them with lids but they probably do. Another place to try is Global Industrial, they sell a lot of office equipment. http://www.globalindustrial.com/
