Terrible. I grew up in Port St. Lousy where the Mets trained. I've got his autograph on a ball somewhere.
Senior year of high school on LI and the METS win the World Series. And it was his hit that prolonged the agony of Red Sox fans.
Not the fastest runner but he sure found the speed to get to first base back in October of '86.
Great player and person.
Montrealers loved the guy. He took the time to learn French and they'll remember him forever for that. He got involved in the city for the 11 years he was there. Note that he's inducted into the Hall of Fame in an Expos' hat. Class act he was.
