I wish Obama had of said "Don't be a fool, wrap your tool"
It sounds like there are a limited number of Dodge Sprinter Hybrids floating around. Does that count?

Your in Flint? I'm down here is Holly. Gas jumped for us, to. I deliver pizzas, and got into it with my boss over gas prices. I said quit talking about it, cause there is nothing we can do about it. He says we should talk about it so we can worry and budget for it. This coming from a guy who makes like 40k a year, lives with his parents, and is completely broke and has terrible credit. Whatever. Gas prices, death and taxes. Cant do anything about em, so why worry?

Nope, the one in Holly doesnt deliver. Just the one in Fenton. I would totally deliver for them if they did.

If I shop at a certain grocery store, I get "Fuelperks" where they allow a certain percentage of my total purchases to accrue as a discount at participating gas stations. With a couple of growing lads to feed, I am in the store a lot, and it can add up to 30 or 40 cents a gallon pretty quick. Anybody else got a program like this? I've got to believe it's pretty common.

I do. But we don't have kids, and the mazda tank isn't that big. So it rarely amounts to much.

I've got it, but it's "only" 10 cents per fillup. They expire every 3 months or so. March 31st, we had 14 credits. I thought about offering to friends and such, but it's only at that grocery chain and on a Suburban, you're only saving about $3.00.....

I think ours do expire every few months, but I don't have any trouble racking up 40 cents or more in a month or two. I know I saved my Dad over 8 bucks when he filled up the Dodge van last time he came south to visit the grandkids.

Yeah like I don't have enough money to put gas in my tank to get to work.
I just keep gas in all of my cars, and take whichever one is full. When it's time to fill it, I take the wifes car and stick her with one that needs filled. I mean... no.
Actually, Gas prices get a solid meh from me. My expenditure in gas has not gone anywhere in recent years, other than down. I've learned to have friends that live closer to me, take less pleasure drives, etc. Bottom line, gas is gas, and ima need it for a long time. I'll rent one less porno or something.

If a 25% increase in gas prices means you can't afford to get to work, you were already living well beyond your means. Which is a completely separate problem and has almost nothing to do with gas prices.
That's not to say I'm happy about the prices, but let's get real here.

Unfortunately, it's not a popular view.
I've almost gotten banned from other forums for saying somewhat the same thing. Initially they just started coming up with the most improbable scenarios ever. "Well, what if i just had to have my appendix taken out, hadn't worked, my 4 kids were sick, had to pay to neuter my dog, my 40mpg Escort broke down, my aunt came to town, had to bum some money, and now i'm stuck driving a 1973 Ford truck to work! I can't make it! What THEN?!?!?!"
Yeahhh.....
If you're posting on a forum and it's not in a public library, you have the money to make up for the gas hikes.
Not bitching but, I use a tank a day for work, at my expense. When your daily tank goes from $40 a day to $60, it makes a dent in the bottom line. Around $400 a month for those mathematically challenged.
I have nowhere to go to negotiate a better rate due to gas pricing as our contracts are all State and Federal healthcare programs which are about to be squeezed at the other end due to the recession.
I am concerned at this point, still making a dollar just closer to one at a time than I was.
I've noticed there are fewer people driving lately around here, it's definitely not all bad. I noticed there were more pumps open at the gas station which was convenient also. We pay a lot less for gas than so many other countries around the world, I really don't feel like I can complain about it much. Sure it sucks, but it is what it is.
I do think we need to invest more in our local infrastructure and make sure we have realistic alternative transportation options in place, but I will restrain myself and not go off on a tangent about that now.
I agree with ECM about cost. Even at $4 a gallon (and premium around here is getting close to that), we'd still be paying a lot less than other countries. OTOH, I'm really not seeing much change in behavior here (north Atlanta Metro, Acworth if you know where that is). I see teens cruising around, people leaving the engine on (for A/C) in the parking lot while their kids/spouse shop, even commercial local delivery trucks leaving the thing at idle when they make small deliveries (I coulda sworn UPS guys were all "contractors"..seems like it's taking money out of their own pockets, not the company's). Weird.

Probably the same grocery chain. We get 10 cents a gallon off for every $50 we spend in the grocery store. Which for the wife and I is usually 40 cents every other week.
On grocery shopping day we go out for dinner (only time we do). Since the grocery store sells gift cards for many resturants we decide before we go shopping which resturant we are going to and buy the appropiate gift card. Usually adds another 10 cents to our fuel discount.
