Shotgun, loaded with kitty litter.
I picked up some "Zep Instant Spill Absorbent" a few weeks back. It was super cheap so I decided to try it.
A couple of days ago I was in my basement mounting my transaxle on to my engine stand prior to a tear down. Upon rotating the trans, gear lube started to come out an opening in the trans. After bitching at myself for being so stupid I grabbed the bag of ZEP and opened it up and poured some on the spill. It has the consistency of sawdust but it just soaked up that lube like nothing. I worked the absorbent back and forth over the spill and in a couple of minutes the lube was soaked up leaving almost no oily residue on the floor. I did not have to do the "kitty litter shuffle". I sweep up the absorbent and dumped it in the garbage. I then sprayed some degreaser on the spill site and wiped up the remaining residue with a paper towel.
Great stuff. I would still use kitty litter in the garage but for spills in the house this stuff rocks! It supposed to be good for paint, and other liquid spills as well.
