I've recently taken a bit of interest in my roots and found a document that shows my ancestry back to an Irish immigrant arriving in Quebec in the early 1800s. The family tree spreads out from him in all kinds of directions. Two branches of descendants left Quebec and migrated to the Rock Island, Illinois and Cowalitz County, Washington areas. The names I have are all born in the early 1900s. I was just wondering if there might be anyone on this forum with the family name of Martin from either of those areas. If you care to play along, just PM me and we can compare notes. I'm not trying to get a complete history , or anything, just playing a 6 degrees of separation thing. Martins married into the Hess family in Illinois, and the Cook family in Washington if that tweaks anyone's memory.

I have nothing to add here,....just wanted to say that it's amazing what the GRM hive mind is used for.

Don't have any Martins in my tree, but I love your potato rolls!

I figured that I may as well ask on here as we all know that this is the most powerful forum on the entire interwebz.

Given this is GRM, I expect an answer by the end of the day.

I might have slept with a Martin once.... IDK for sure.

I assume you're using ancestry.com? My brother has been tracing our ancestry as well; I think we also had a branch of the family that came into the US from Canada about the same time period, but there were no relation to the families you mentioned.

I used ancestry.com and finally canceled a few months later. That E36 M3 ant' cheap. Traced the Orbin family back to the 1760's when they first arrived. The Spero/Spermo/Spermuli family couldn't be traced past my great-grandmother crossing Ellis Island.

I did more than once but SHE was from Manila, Philippines. Wendy was her stage name and had a high center of gravity.

I had an Irish female friend with the last name Martin when I was growing up in the NW suburbs of IL. This is likely not helpful at all. Carry on.
