Anybody have any experience or opinions on these?
There's a local '09 GT w/ lower miles that's listed $3K under book... highly uncommon price around here. The dealers ad didn't hype the glass roof at all. No pics of roof and only a word of it buried in the description. I thought that would be a big selling point. That got me thinking... is there anything to beware of?
That option sucked. So I can see why it's downplayed. Might as well bought a vert for the same money.
Never heard of that option, but looks cool.
Scouring google on this led to Mustang forums. Only found two reports of delamination... but w/ no leaks. They were replaced under warranty. The majority (a E36 M3load ton) had no issues and loved the glass.

Had no idea that option was offered.

Do they come with some sort of cover for it?
Moon roofs sucked in the summer sun.

Yea, that would broil the interior w/o some kinda shade.
There's an interior shade that rolls out from the rear of glass.

that's the shade in closed position

I've installed quite a few of those, before Ford made them a factory option. They are cool, but you want the sunshade (not offered on the aftermarket version). It's like a windshield on the roof, it's a structural part once the urethane has set.
Seems like extra weight, in the wrong place, up high.

Closely looking at the shade, it seems opaque. In other words, keeps out most of the light but still lets in far more light (and heat) that a solid top with an insulating headliner.
I think it looks sort of cool, however...
1 Yeah, you're gonna cook in the summer, shade or not.
2 It would seem kind of frustrating to have a big sunroof that doesn't open.
3 As a rare option, replacement could be tricky down the road.

Replacement is expensive. There are 5 trim pieces that will be destroyed, and the glass panel. So yeah, it's a new kit. And there's no going to a sunroof after this, the whole roof is cut out.
I remember Classic Design Concepts offered these as an aftermarket on the 05-08 bodies...I had no idea Ford offered it as an option on the newer ones. As a Mustang guy, I've NEVER seen one in person...
I really liked the idea of the CDC version on my car...until I realized I lived in Georgia...and that it was heavy...and kind of looks funny on a silver car...
OTOH, I did have the roof panel replaced on mine after a falling tree incident, so maybe it's best I didn't have it...

FWIW, from what I've read in the forums the glass panel is around 3/16" thick and adds around 20- 25 lbs over the standard roof and is supposed to be on a par structurally. Up high is not the place to add weight but the Mustang is somewhat bloated to begin with, and nothing a serious racer would consider... but they have made their way onto Shelbys.
I'd be concerned about rollovers... that's a big hole there.

I've installed them on a roush and two saleens! I was reluctant to start cutting.
And they are at least as safe in a roll-over, safer would be my bet. The structure stays so the rollover protection isn't touched, and the glass is way, way stronger than the sheet metal.

So GLM (Glass Roof Motorsports) magazine isn't going to be launched any time soon
