Planning on going to the Global Rallycross event in Charlotte this May 26th, should be pretty awesome. I was wondering if anyone had gone to anything similar and how easy it is to get close to the cars and drivers before or after the race.
Here is the website:

What, you don't want to get close to a rally car during the race? Thats the fun part.
In most amateur motorsports you just walk over to the paddock area, not hard ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)

GRC is hardly an amateur level of motorsports, but guessing by the smilie, you knew the reaction your statement would cause.
To the op, you should be able to cruise through the paddocks, get signatures, etc no problem. They also typically have had signing sessions and what not. I plan on going to the finals in Vegas at the end of September. Waayyyyy too many cool dudes from Europe have come over, if GRC implodes after this year, at least I can say I went and supported it.
Went yesterday and it was amazing, I was smiling the entire time. Got to see all the cars up close in the pits for the rallycross which was accross the street from the race track. Got to see Marcus Gronholm, Ken Block, Tanner Foust, Travis Pastrana, Brian Deegan, Dave Mirra, Bucky Lasek, and Rhys Millen up close and personal, got pictures with a few of them. It was a great race with Gronholm winning the whole deal and Foust coming in second. It was so much fun to watch. I'll post some pictures up later tonight or this week sometime. Defiantly worth the money, got lots of free posters, shirts, stickers and autographs.
Please tell me that you flicked a booger onto Toomas Heikkinen
Haha, no didnt see him after the race...
Also the nascar announcer was terrible, asked one of the drivers if the car turns better to the right or left, was worrying about water on the track, asked if the cars were supercharged, a brake caliper was shown on the screen that was in the pits somewhere steaming(off of the car) and he called it a brake rotor, and my favorite, called the Subarus "WXR"s, too funny.
So how excited is Tanner about TGUS going to The 2012 Challenge?
He was pretty elusive, I wore my GRM shirt and stalked around the pits and after the race but he was always hiding and sneaking around. Really wanted to get a picture with him, did get a picture of him though.
I was going to go but found out about it waaaay too late, and I busted my nose at work that day and spent a couple hours in urgent care=/
I hope there's a next time to go, because I would love to see it.
My friend that I was going to go with got off early from work and made it down there during or right after the first heat. No one was selling tix so he walked in and sat down for free lmao

all i have is the x ray for now after they decided I had "no obvious fractures"
my nose is visibly crooked though, so I'm not sure I buy that![](/media/img/icons/smilies/laugh-18.png)

Just like my next most recent injury, a sliced artery in my right thumb caused by a can of potatoes, it happened in a most glorious and manly fashion: I held onto an air hose as it retracted into the overhead hose reel. Well, I held onto it until a knot yanked it out of my hand and whipped the end into my face. I have one black eye and a crooked nose now. lol
(and a prescription for vicodin)

ps I think that's my favorite TTIUWP I've ever seen. lol
In high school when I weighed about 100 lbs, I was at wrestling practice and for some reason I was wrestling the hevy-weight. I was doing pretty well, but at one point he rolled over me breaking the cartilage in my nose and jamming three toes breaking one growth plate. Did you break the cartilage or the bone? Cartilage will never heal properly. My nose is slightly crooked and hurt when it gets cold. I have to pop it back into place every once in a while. It makes a funny little pop sound...

I'm not sure, but I believe it is the cartilage. He just called it soft tissue damage, which obviously isn't bone lol.
And I'll make sure I'm on vicodin for my first diy nose straightening

Don't tell me they had no jump. I mean I understand they had the Coke 600 that weekend and all, but if they can build and tear down a monster truck track in a couple days, no reason why they can't do the same here.
They had a jump, but it was pretty lame, just a table top deal, Ken Block aired it out once but that was the only time it was fun to watch, it was on the far end of the track from us.
