That said--saw this on another forum and had to share--the energy of this song just keeps building to mindblowing levels:

The fiddle solo is just
It's the energy of hardcore punk in bluegrass.
Yep, that's a good one.
BTW, Old Crow Medicine Show is worth listening to as well.
Not Bluegrass, but 'old time string band'

The band that sort of invented/defined that sound is Split Lip Rayfield. An amazing band

The bass is made from an old ford pickup gas tank. I highly reccomend the album "In the mud"
Thanks for the trampled by turtles link. Now I have an excuse to head to the music store.
The banjo player should look bored. Thats the way God intended it too be.
There's speed metal guitarists that would get left in the dust by these banjo and mandolin players.

Wow, cool clip.
I don't know anything about bluegrass either, but that track certainly had me tapping my foot.
Not quite at the pace of the previous clips, but I've been a fan of this guy since hearing him on a Vodafone ad.

That is my kind of music. Thanks for posting that.

That was awesome. Thanks for sharing.
I have to also recommend checking out the Whiskey Bent Valley Boys if you like Bluegrass. My girlfriend grew up with these guys and they put on a hell of a live show.

Cool video! OCMS is hit or miss for me, but there's no denying they're some harmonizing ass mother berkeleyers.

This is true as well.
I've come to the conclusion after being surrounded by GOOD musicians (in their respective genre's hall of fames) that the only thing that matters is what genre is the player playing. What would have happened had Jens Kruger, or these trampled by turtles, or Bill Monroe had been born in another time or place and ended up playing heavy metal? Guess what? They'd probably be the very best.
Of course the same goes vice versa. Had Chris Impellitteri, or Kirk Hammett, or Dave Mustaine picked up a mandolin or banjo first, they would have been at the top of their game with those instruments as well.
Awesomeness. Now I need to go to the music store.

For sure--shred is shred. Bluegrass players are just shredders in country guise. Al Dimeola, John Coltrane, John Mclaughin--jazz shredders.

Modern bluegrass is way different than most people believe. I've become quite a fan. There's not much music made these days that is so pure. No percussion, no electrics, and often no vocals.
My wife LOVES these guys:
Cadillac Sky
XM channel 14 is great for developing a taste for Bluegrass.

You mean an actual brick-and-mortar store to buy like, an album? Do they still exist?
Oh, and I loved the clip. This is the reason I never say that I don't like a certain genre of music. Saying you hate country or rap or whatever means you miss stuff like this.

I've got a ton of bands that are among my favorite that are considered bluegrass by everybody else, and anything but by true bluegrass players. Whatever it is, its pure music that is wonderful to listen to, for me anyways.
Thanks, just when I was done spending money on bluegrass albums...

The turtles' singer doesn't do it for me.
Bought a couple "Pickin On" albums. Great stuff.
