Looks like I will be learning a few new tricks here soon. As I have posted I have been looking for work for awhile and I am still looking for a good solid job. However in the mean time I was just offered work for a couple months driving truck for one of the farmers here in the valley.

Decent pay and I get to learn how to drive a 10 speed split gearbox. Not to mention it should hopefully hold me over until I get something from one of the many other apps I have sent out.

Sweet! Do you get side benefits like free corn and squash? I think it is awesome that you are helping the local farmer.

Yeah we will get freebies. Gonna be starting in the tater fields then I think we will be working beets. Love taters but I am not big on beets. Around here there are lots of local farm operations so if you have the connections you can normally find work on one or another all year round.

Funny thing the guy that offered me the job I met while I was out shooting one day. He ended up calling my father in law to find out if I would be interested. Oh and I guess if I don't find another job and end up working until the snow flies I will end up getting a bonus.

Did someone say beets?

Oh yeah, beets are frickin' awesome.

Maybe I should get my CDL and see if the farmers out here are hirin'.

Actually, at least out here, you don't need a CDL to work for the farmers because of the rules for ag jobs. I don't have mine though I have thought about getting one before.

Hmmmm! That makes the corn extra sweet. Might have to check that out. Guess it wouldn't hurt for me to learn how to hunt.
Now to study up on a ten speed that ain't a bicycle.

They tip in the field a lot easier than you think.

Beware of overloads, you'll likely be set up for the fall as the newbie.

Pick hi or lo, don't try to change it as you crest the hill. Farm truck brakes aren't good, and it's real exciting to fly down the hill wondering what you're going to do when you get to the bottom.

SWMBO's father use to drive ag trucks all the time so he is going to come over and run through some of the basics with me and the like.
