One of my ex-bosses was an ex-Baltimore detective. There is a reason he left the force and went into radio.. The corruption then, back in the 90s, was stifling and he was sick of playing that game.

The police did their job and we got nothing. There was a peaceful demonstration and that was it. This is the South. We are all racist according to most of the country. WW3 should have broken out. Why doesn't this place go up in flames when a forward thinking liberal town like Baltimore does. It makes no sense to me.
Because your police arrested the guy and charged him with 1st degree murder. That is what people want/expect to happen as a result of a killing. No need to snap the berkeley out... it's handled.
When a healthy man goes into a police van and then dies of a severed spine and everyone goes "I dunno what happened" people do assume they know what happened (and probably aren't too far off the mark) and they want to rob a damn liquor store and wreck some E36 M3 as a result. I think the mob response isn't productive but there is no leader stepping up to channel the rage or bring about peaceful change so it's probably going to get worse before it gets better. Al Sharpton will show up to make a couple bucks off it though.
There is also possibly someone with an agenda fanning the flames here... perhaps the sort of people who want to declare marshal law and play with all those neat toys the army gave them. Perhaps the sort that want to pass some sort of right to assembly restriction bill. Stranger things have happened. aaand it is right in DC's backyard.

Was your ex-boss Jimmy McNaulty?

But CVS has plenty of drugs. All the CIIs (hydrocodone, oxy, ampehtamines & the like) are kept in pretty solid safes but one could still easily loot a lifetime supply Viagar, Cialis, Xanax or whatever.

So what you're saying is, North Charleston, in the redneck backwards ass state of South Carolina, the state that started the Civil War, has a less corrupt, less racist, police force than Baltimore.
The NCPD didn't even investigate the shooting. They turned it over the SLED boys in Columbia. They filed the charges.
In reply to Toyman01:
Maybe not less corrupt but certainly more saavy about knowing when it's time to cut bait.
As soon as I saw the original story in MD I said they better find video of this guy breaking his own neck or arrest someone from that crew right away otherwise this is going to explode.
i expect the same thing to happen here(cleveland) if they acquit the cop that shot a pair of criminals with mile long rap sheets 40something times who they thought shot at police then did not stop and took them on a long chase. i don't find him in the wrong, but fear the same thing as ferguson and now this if he gets justice.
Massive fire in east Baltimore now, I can see, smell and taste the smoke. Locked and loaded for the night.
Hopefully they can burn the tire bundles they used for that stupid chicane at the Baltimore Grand Prix so they don't have that nonsense if theres another race there.

Oh boy. I guess we can hope for water cannons and tear gas to be effective. The first live round that goes off on camera from a uniform makes this a "thing" in every city in the country. You folks living in Lord Baltimore's city limits... take care tonight.
Getting bad in Patterson Park now. Trying to hold them back with flash bangs. I have some video to upload at a later, safer time.

…save some ammo for anyone that rolls through a stop sign.
Too soon?

No White Sox game tonight - booooooooooo

You are on point. People that are outside the situation and not a part of a disenfranchised and mistreated community like to point out that "they are idiots for destroying their own neighborhoods" and come to all sorts of misguided (and often racist) conclusions. I'm not saying what is going on is right, I think its awful and must be terrifying for people that live in the area, but what do you expect to happen with no outlet to vent frustration and no justice present.
Anyway, I don't post a lot around here, but just wanted to say that you have much more reasonable and accurate thinking on this matter than a lot of the country. Hope I didn't make any enemies. Stay safe everyone!
I feel like we can dig up the Ferguson thread, change every reference to that town to Baltimore, and save ourselves like... 13 pages of discussion. I can't wait til the first entitled idiot gets run over in MN again for blocking the damn roads over stuff they have no idea about.
Let it be said, this case is jacked. Nothing two ways about that. HOWEVER- this is a carbon copy of what happened the last time- and all I saw locally was a bunch of ignorant buttards trying to pretend they knew what was going on. I'll watch for the carnage- my work is within rock throwing distance of the St. Paul eastside precinct.
Just be glad I'm not supreme leader, as I'd say "You want Mogadishu, I'll give you Mogadishu" Complete with strafing runs of people in roadways after curfew.
Peaceful protest is fine, the not standing up against the violent douchebags hiding within your protest is not fine. Fix your own mess or you'll never be taken seriously.

Best mother ever.
N Charleston PD has ordered 250 body cameras for their officers. They will be worn by everyone on duty at all times.
You want to end issues like this.. you get the police to actually police themselves.
I do not care of the guy wanted is a murderer, the police should not be Judge, jury, and executioner, that is why we have a court system with a jury made up of your peers.
instead of hiding the bad cops behind the "thin blue line" they need to out those bastards for what they really are.. criminals
