Is there any way to import a Google Sketchup model into Solidworks?

If you have sketchup pro, you can exort to a 3d dwg. Otherwise, not sure if solidworks will eat a skp file.

Even 3D DWG or 3D DXF don't work that well. Unless it's ridiculously complicated, you're better of pulling dimensions and making your own model.

A number of our architect clients use Sketchup though it has few truly useful export options.

This, although there are several converters you can purchase.

If you can "borrow" Google Sketchup Pro, you can "save as" an STL file.

Solidworks can open and edit an STL file.

I've used a Sketchup STL export plugin to bring objects into Pro/Engineer. I haven't looked at other plugins.

There are some tricks to getting SketchUp models out to other programs... I wrote a bit on it a while back...
