Anyone here using Google tv? I'm wondering if you can use it to go to a networks website and watch episodes of your favorite shows? I was interested in appletv but it looks like it's basically a mobile app device hooked to your tv. I want to be able to watch network tv.
I have a DVR (PC) I built years ago and that's all fine and dandy but it's dying. For the cost of the upgrades I can just buy a google tv. I do not have cable or sat so the off-the shelf DVRs just don't do my much good.

Apple TV + NetFlix is all kinds of awesome, so much so that I even cancelled my cable. $7 a month is a steal for what you get from NetFlix.

And if you want to watch a newer show you can just grab it off of itunes for 99 cents an episode.

Thanks e. I have Netflix already and love it! The issue is, we don't EVER watch TV when it airs so I'd like to be able to log on to NBC.com or whatever and watch the latest episode. I heard that Google tv won't connect to hulu (don't go there anyway, waste of time from what I see) or the network sites. Can anyone confirm this?
I like the idea of apple tv, I try to avoid microcrap and windoze at every turn.

Hulu just released a subscription app for the XBox. Not sure if you have an Xbox but if you do it might be worth investigating.

There is a legally questionable way to get broadcast TV utilizing utorrent and RSS feeds. The info you seek on this can be found by typing "rss downloader utorrent" into google.

The networks are currently blocking GoogleTV access. I think all the NBC stuff is on Hulu. If you buy a Hulu+ subscription you can watch on an Xbox360, PS3, or Roku.

I don't get it. Why is it not allowable to watch The Office on my Sony TV, equipped with google tv when I can use my pc to watch the office on my TV? I think the networks are missing out on traffic by not allowing google tv. Am I missing something?

DRM does not often make sense. Neither does rights management for online content.
