So my 16 year-old had his first fender scrape with another vehicle. The F-150 pictured belongs to the preacher at our church and he was too kind in not claiming this bump on insurance. I'd still like my kid (and maybe his dad) to pay for repairs out of his pocket.
Any body shop pros here willing to give a very elementary quote from one picture?
My non-pro answer, at body shop rates for insurance claim type work is $2-$4k. The $2k if there is no metal work and just paint work. $4k if metal work and rear bumper replacement is needed.
Tough to say from the pics, we have a place by us called acci-dent that does just that sort of thing - parking lot rash. This would be $1kish cash money out of pocket for them assuming there isnt anything deep enough that cant be fixed with PDR. They do good work, this being down low on a rear panel is a pretty forgiving repair in terms of it having to be absolutely tip top.
Great, those preachers use these life events for preaching illustrations- he'll forever be using this.
LOL
I'd get some lacquer thinner first, and see what washes off. Two dimensional photo isn't great for showing dents, but the scuff on the bumper might come off. The plastic on the bumper might pop back into place.
Take the tail light out before the thinner melts it.
Definitely some dent and paint work on the box.

2-3 hours labor on the box corner, but the problem is you paint the corner and then have to clear the entire bedside to do it correctly. Detrim the bedside, replace the decal it probably has, etc. Probably a good $1500 or so until you're done. I'd try cleaning the bumper up if it were mine.

Bug spray may work in a pinch. Had a man scrub off a scuff much worse than that using nothing but "off".
