Saw this today when out for a cold bike ride....Thought of Dan
56 ford cab-over, 76 GMC motorhome front clip and rear axles (FWD), and 6,000 hours of labor. 1 man.
Air ride rear end. Fuel tank stored in one of the underbelly tool boxes. Onboard winch. Almost too pretty to use

don't think that could be had for "grassroots" kind-a money..
Grassroots as is he did this all in his pole barn by himself.......guy was probably mid 70's
what an awesome ride. Who cares how bad the mileage is...
I really hope he uses it to haul lesser car haulers. It's big enough.
Thanks for thinking of me, but BTDT with the old truck on a new frame. '52 Dodge B3C-116 on a 1986 one ton frame 360, 727, Dana 60 posi.
Right now if I had to do it again, Isuzu, ND, cab over 4 cylinder turbo diesel with a box, flares, dropped, satin black and red wheels and chrome stacks. If I live long enough, it's on my list...
I've been following a neat truck build over on the HAMB board: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=355535 It's a '47 ford on a modern chassis with diesel power.

Every frickin' time that someone links to a post on the HAMB, I am on there for a few hours catching up... Then I go looking for something old, American, local and cheap.

Afew years ago, I did a security survey on an auction place outside of Tampa. Dealt with insurance wrecks. They had several late model motor homes that had either rolled or burned, any of which would have been great donors for a project like these. Low mileage, modern power, dirt cheap. You could put almost any cab on top and have a ball. I really like the Ol' Timey COE for a conversion like that. Lot's of room for a flat bed for the race car. And titled as a motor home.
Do you have canoe insurance?
